i want to know the EASIEST, cheapest way to get video from my camcorder, to my site-

TheBulldog 10-10-2007 04:32 PM

Camcorder type, and format?

smashfactory 10-10-2007 05:58 PM

um, well, i am gonna buy a new one (as soon as some verrrrrry smart domainer bids on iReality.tv) - the one i have is very very very old- 11 years!- is there something i need to look for in one to make my video uploads easier?

namenut 10-10-2007 06:04 PM

I would like to have opinions on use or ideas to implement.

tvpg.tv / TVPG.TV

~ Preview Guide
~ Program Guide
~ Parental Guide
~ Producers Guild
~ Personal Genre
~ Privacy Guard

I'm thinking something like DIGG but for TV/Cable programming. I would love to do an eZine kinda thing but feel that would be a huge venture. Lots of lawyers and contracts etc .... But something that Joe/Jan public could use would be cool. Reviews, Previews, Rating, Trailers, Forums, Promotionals etc.

Any way ..... what are your opinions/suggestions?

smashfactory 10-10-2007 06:20 PM

thanks namenut! but smash needs a new cam so i can put my hoochie-momma face up there for ya'll!

equity78 10-10-2007 06:45 PM

Everyone is fine ask whatever you like and hopefully someone can answer your question or give an idea about a project.

TheBulldog 10-10-2007 07:02 PM

Sheesh, 11 years? Is it still a VHS tape or at least super 8?

You will need, hopefully, an out put on the camera to go to input on your PC. Dazzle makes some decent ones to do it.

If you buy one of the Dazzle products, it will come with software to do the conversion to a pc format.

You will end up with a HUGE file size. Windows movie maker can help you shrink it a bit, but you will want to find a conversion program to make it into a flash video. Plenty of free converters floating around, although I have never tried one.

As a suggestion, I bought my wife one of the latest Kodak slr-like digital cameras. At the same time she got me a new hard drive camcorder.

The irony is that she uses the video camera feature of her camera almost daily. And the videos are pretty good. She uploads them to youtube or her channelme.tv site and lets them do the bandwidth. She could load them directly to her site, but I am far too lazy to set up whatever that would take.

@namenut: Program or Preview guide. Or personal gratification, but that would not be good.

I use a cannon GL2

You should get a 3chiper , I use a canon GL2 it works well in low light situations and has a fire wire to plug directly into a mac..

You can get a used mac and GL2 for about $2,250 for both.

smashfactory 10-13-2007 09:34 PM

does all the stuff come with the camera to plug it into the pc to upload to it? or do i have to buy other stuff to do that?

hi smash, are you on a mac or pc? what is the model # of the camera? sounds like from the age of the camera, you will have to come out of the camera thru video out (yellow RCA female) into a video card, or external peripheral box. so yes you have to buy stuff. some of the cheaper boxes make nasty copies but then I haven't used one in a while. I go into a mac (which has no video in) with a JVC GRD230U DV camera (firewire out), fairly cheap but great results, runs good and has analog inputs so I can use it as a "video in" into the mac via firewire. works like a champ. If you had one of those cameras, and if you're on a mac, you could go video out of your old camera into and thru the new camera and then via firewire into the mac. I've done it works great. To me a camera makes more sense than a box as a video input device, and you get a dv camera as well. It's a bit different on a PC.

pc- i am looking to buy a new camcorder- the one i have, i can put a freaking video tape in it- it is huge, and the lens is broke-
i want to get one that when i film, it goes right to cd- bam, done-
but, i was hoping i could tape, plug into my computer, and upload very easily-
i guess i upload videos to my hard drive? then they have to be converted?

i want to start developing some tvs but i need the right tools-

ready to go out of the package...!

bennyboy 10-26-2007 05:40 AM

Hi smash, I am in a similar position- though probably worse. I quite a few .tv names which I wish to develop, though not of the quality of many here, but still good.

I need to sell to fund development, as I have no cash for it. Either that- or as I have just done- give equity in exchange for development costs.

Good luck with your sale/development etc.

advice on editing software and hd camera

Does anyone have any reccomendations for good editing software and hd video camera both for under $1,000 or where I can find good deals online?

I was looking at the canon hv20 the camera, and I am looking for an editing software that can go beyond simple transitions but can also do color corrections and working with green screens? Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks!

heroes 12-17-2007 11:01 PM

From all my research the Canon HV20 is what I would go for (it seems to stand head and shoulders above the rest - also value for money). Have no idea about editing software.

Disintegration 12-18-2007 08:41 PM

Yeah, I keep reading good things about that camera as well. I was also looking at the Gl2 some deals for around $1,200, but after seeing this test footage last night among others of the HV20 on youtube:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ACVZp-UMD0Y
i'm convinced this is a great deal, plus I hear it will be going from around $800 down to about $400-500 this year.
I'm still looking around though..

Cool Tool!

Disclosure: I have no affiliation with this WorldTV.com

So I had a little time today and I came across WorldTV.com and while it is a tv.com and not a .tv it is an interesting application to share. You can quickly create a channel (player) embedded with a video playlist. The videos are very easy to grab and add into the list. They also have a quick logo maker and selection. When you launch it is under the format: www.worldTV.com/whateveryouwant

Here is an example: www.WorldTV.com/BourbonTV.com

Once you have this done, then just point and mask your domain to the address. I have not forwarded my domain yet but will.

I think it is a neat little solution on domains you are not really making much on and or are sitting around collecting dust. Anyways, if you make one post it and let's see what your channel looks like.
