Lot higher than I expected - I was expecting to see 30K maximum - very good news for .mobi IMHO so I'll rush out and get a few more ! Anyone know where we can see all the results of the auction ?

I totally agree. who cares if not earth shattering. realistically with this many quality pure generic keywords, its amazing most sold.

the fun is seeeing how they are developed and by whom.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/380800-what-your-take-sedo-mobi-auction.html

interestingly, something like loans.mobi may have been bought by a big player, in which case today may have been the last time it ever comes on sale again.

many of the priginal coms were nailed by supergeeks and have done the rounds until landing in an endusers pocket.
it's kind of different these days.
i wonder if its half and half?
endusers & speculators/light developers?

Now that it's over.....

It's hard NOT to call this a smashing success yet, somehow... I predict that the "unusual suspects" will take the time to take their foot out of their mouths to spew their "thoughts" about how this tld is still not needed, doesn't make sense, will be worthless in a few years, blah, blah, blah, we all come to loath and expect.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=380800

As good as I feel about the results now...I'll really start rejoicing when these puppies are bought and paid for. It will be interesting to see what kind of sites the winners come up with in 6 months!

Higher than what I figured and while it may have met a sort of high middle ground for those on this forum, those in this forum are always going to have higher expectations than others outside it.

Just think of what these names in .net would have sold for, and then decide whether it was a success or failure!!

don't know why we are comparing to nets??? lol
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=380800

it was a success. we cant compare mobi & dont need to compare mobi to any other extension.
my hope is mobi leapfrogs all other extensions apart from com (which i think we alll know it will never) & sit there as a little brother. semi-household name would be the aim in the short-midterm.

anyway, i've always hated net's

They would have ended the bidding a few grand higher if i was home! I had 3 domains i was bidding on but i was at work and won well .....................none!

The next auctions i'd better be off for or i will have to complain to Sedo about it!!!

I'm also f**king furious with sedo for not even having a mobile website available what a f**king cheek to collect all that commission money and they are supposed to be a supporter of .mobi?? I may of even won an auction if they had a mobile website!!!

Aggie, I'm sure you're not alone. Commiserations mate, hope they learn all the key lessons this time, not one at a time.

But I digress: given the circumstances, this was one truly impressive performance! Well done mobi, way to go!

Mate i've emailed several times they probably just laugh and delete it like the domain 'professionals' they are! Preds tried too! It'll go nowhere unless their commission money is on the line, such as mtld demanding their .mobi is made mobile and is working as a proper useable site! Or they auction them at Afternic! That would make Sedo sit up and take notice, and .mobi out of the cctld section and put into it's rightful home with the rest of the tld's!

i got a really encouraging email.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=380800
The next one then just quoted the mtld and sedo auction arrabgement.

however, i have resent an email. mildly awesome even if i do say so myself

i'm hoping a year later they wil finally sort this.
if we get anywhere, i'll post my email and the email i get back edited.
if this dont work, on the 3rd email this time of asking, i give up. let nature take its course or someone else take the baton. tbh if everyone emails their rep will help.
the search function is main thing & to make sure for novemebr auction, mobi auctions get on homepage in closing minutes and before for big bids, like com, .co.uk etc etc

level playing field is all we're asking. by sedo's admission from a top rep, they said last october they were planning it. they're just lazy and disorganised imho

These prices are nowhere near .net levels. can you imagine loans.net getting 30k, bank.net getting 50k, or Creditcards.net going for 20k? (it sold for $120k a year ago and creditcard.info got 25k 6 months ago).

Looking generally at the auction results I would say that .mobi prices are now lower than .info levels.

I agree that the .mobi prices are still below .net prices and may always be. However, if given the opportunity to buy the same name in .mobi or .info 99% of the time I would take the .mobi. This also may change but from what I've seen so far .mobi is off to a very strong start and nothing has occured yet to make me want to stay away (and I have put my money where my mouth is as both a buyer and seller). Today is a good day for .mobi and frankly investors/domainers when compared to the performance of other extensions one year after release. It's not just the new, hot extension anymore. There would seem to be some staying power. IMHO.

I'll post this here too-

Just curious, does not the application/extension come into play here? I think mobi has it's place, but to be honest I don't see people filling out long forms to apply for a loan or credit card on their small handheld devices. At least not until voice or some other technology comes into play to make the process feasible. However I do see how people would want to look up and find a hosting or insurance company. To compare apples and oranges (.net and .info are pc related extensions.. in reference to your comparisons below posted elsewhere) to bolster one's 'opinion' on somethings value, is somewhat short handed I think.

Creditcard.mobi $ 25,500
Creditcards.mobi $ 20,500
Creditcard.info $25,000 (6 months ago)
Creditcards.net $120,000 (1 year ago)

Agree with the other points hawkeye; on this one IMHO those small devices are actually better for the purpose than PCs in the medium term, because each device has one confirmed owner and if the owner doesn't mind all the info reuired can easily be passed automatically to the bank.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=380800

Once privacy concerns are resolved, we may laugh at the idea of filling application forms like we do today.

This is just scratching the surface, I know - but we need to repell the first attack of the day before regrouping and talking in greater depth :-)

And I would bet that if more people knew this type(s) of an application is/would be available as you note, that the bidding woulda been higher, as that unforseen 'immediate potential' woulda been more considered.

A HUGE point...imagine these prices for 100 names sold at the same place at the same time...
