The thing I learned lately that it pays to shop around where you "park" your domains. Some sites pay alot better than others.

How do you shop at your parking company?

I have no idea what "shop" at your parking company means. You lost me there. If you read any posts there is others stating that their domains have better payouts being parked at different places. I'm running trials at several different parking companies myself. Everyone knows about sedo but there is other places to park them. Do some research.

You can start parking your domain names with parked.com (mind you, they seek higher quality domains to approve your application), sedo.com (payout is very less), google adsense, namedrive.com, domainsponsor.com, parkingrevolution.com, fabulous.com domain parking, skenzo.com etc..

Few important things that you need to look for are; payout percentage and reliability. Try known parking companies so that you dont get ripped off for your money. Rest you shall learn as you go..

Some of them like to host high traffic domains only. What's the best sale you heard lately? I read call (dot) com went for 1.1 million. Has there been any better ones lately?

my words of advice are:

1)use google keyword tool at ALL times when considering purchasing a domain. If no one is searching for the terms then no one is interested in the domain
2)dont get saturday night fever. I mean dont get excited when you find a name that is not regged, see point 1 again.

My piece of advice would be to advise newcomers to purchase domain names for the sole profit of making money with them. Either in reselling them to a end user, another domainer, or developing a site on them.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to share such valuable advice. Domaining appears to be a steep but attainable and more importantly enjoyable learning curve.
In what appears to be such a competitive market it is refreshing to find genuine help and guidance rather than closed doors and secrecy.

I take my hat off to all who contribute to this excellent thread and hope in time to be able to give back some of what I have received.

Many thanks
