Reserves not met on: Ask, Hello, Wifi, Creditcard, Credit, Download ... etc. (working downward from the top $ "Current Bids" (by clicking on "Current Bid"))!

Loan does have Reserve met (currently at $30,000).

For an historical perspective (caveat, with plenty of time remaining in the current .MOBI auction), if memory serves, I believe Bank of America (some here might know them as "Bofa.mobi") purchased Loans.com for $3,000,000 in 2000/2001, IMHO.

Jeff, my honest opinion is that you risk being sidetracked with this reserve thing - IMHO your entire position may look substantially weakened by the end of the auction if you make this your focal point (and I hope this doesn't sound arrogant from someone who has a tiny fraction of your post count).

Why do I care? Because in a niche sub-forum like this we probably do need a constant reminder that there are different points of view out there.

As I said above in the part of my post that wasn't picked up in all the subsequent quotes, I do agree with you on at least one key point.

That key point is supply and demand (I think I'll call it S&D for brevity).

You don't have to be original to be right, right?

I'm wondering if BOFA is our bidder on loans.. I'd imagine most domainers wouldn't place such high bids early on - smarter to try and snipe near the end. As for the reserves.. I'm a bit disappointed with ask.mobi. Hasn't hit the reserve and bidding is at $18k+ ?!? How high do they exactly expect this thing to go? I hope this isn't indicative of things to come (many more high bids not hitting reserves on other names)..

I was kind of hinting at the same thing (re., potential bidder for Loans.mobi), I mean heck they spent $3M in '00 for the .COM and they are supposedly supporting an .MOBI already and in the future?!!

Correct, $192k is the total of everything. I certainly understand that if a domain doesn't hit reserve it will not be counted...but we are just over 24 hours into a week-long auction, and many of the higher-prices names that have not hit the reserve are just below the lower range of the reserve. True, some of those may have been placed by "fake" buyers who have no intention of going higher, but unless biding comes to a screeching halt for the next 6 days, I like how this is progressing. Plus, if I was going to bid, I would wait until closer to the end anyway....

I would actually agree with that - not just because its clever and funny, but because it's undoubtedly true (and I'm trying hard not to contribute to the economic imbalance myself :-).

But I bet the same imbalance can be observed in the vast majority of other niche forums frequented mostly by early adopters of a new idea/concept/asset class that has a realistic chance of being the next big thing.

It is very early in the auction, I wouldn't be reading anything in to the bidding so far. If that collection of .mobi's can't get at least a few million dollars then something is very wrong.

There may be a couple of caveats to that. Non-endusers may have already vested a lot of their liquid power into names with this auction coming as a surprise. Many domainers aren't convinced that .mobi will be successful, if a couple of big named domainers were convinced the numbers would skyrocket in bidding wars - we will have to wait to see. I generally agree, though it's still early in the auctions ... but I like to think of the sale of Loans.com in 2000 for $3,000,000 (and for surely a much larger amount today and with the sale to an apparent .MOBI "supporter"), and right now some of these .MOBI's are not even or just barely making their Reserve Prices (Loans.mobi currently at only $30,000 - mere 1% of 2000's .com Sales price).

PV, I've started reading your post only very recently, but - as usual - I strongly agree with what you're saying.

One technical caveat: As things stand now, there won't be time for the crucial 'ripple effect' that makes normal auctions exciting (by lifting up expectations for subsequent lots) to do its magic here.

I assume you mean bidding wars in the 'MTLD 100' current Sedo auctions, which are all scheduled to end at the same time and even with numerous 5/10 minute extensions the most exciting ones are clearly likely to end last.
