I will never report my sales to DNJournal.com or anywhere else. I think most non-domainers prefer not to have their purchases advertised in general.

Like DN Journal says -- only a very small portion of sales are reported (I've personally never reported any of my sales to DN Journal, nor do I believe many of my buyers would want that attention) and that's certainly something one has too keep in mind when analyzing sales results.

I've thought for quite some time now that many domainers needed the reassurance of "no mass drops" come November 2nd before considering investing further...

Will have to see how things continue, however it's hard to be disappointed in comparison to what we saw in October.

For sure. November not starting off as shaky as Oct. Who knows, maybe today (being "the day after") combined with things such as the U.S. election result later on, falling gas prices lately (and I mean a FREEFALL! At least here in Cali anyway) etc will be a starting point for slight upward trend - (ok lemme balance this out for sno, err, for some people) - or maybe today will mark the end of $10+ single-premiums and it's all downhill from here.

Can't wait to see how this month pans out with these little squirts (LLLL.coms).

(edit: ya know now that I think about it early Oct low-end sales were looking ok for a while there too, I think)

We should see the last of these pass through the drop cycle by early January. Plus the US presidential inauguration later that month (barring a major upset today) should help restore confidence (or at least hope) in America and its economy.

Looks like we've got about 2 maybe 3 months before these rock bottom prices come to an end. I just wish I had more investment capital atm.

Well said Ken. I'm very optimistic about 2009 for the reasons you've mentioned. I'm sure most of the domainers on here who've heavily invested XX,XXX+ into this market at one point or another will concur when I make the statement that current prices on the low end can more than be supported by current enduser demand alone... And of course there's plenty of reasons to be optimistic about significant future growth in countries like China which will only lead to both more and higher enduser prices on domains perceived as lower quality in English.

For what it's worth (and to keep the naysayers from chanting pump + dump), I have only about $2000 currently invested in this market other than my LLLL.com which I have no intention of ever selling. I'm making this comment out of honesty despite being interested but not having yet re-entered the market. I think I may have erred a bit too much on the side of caution here -- prices so far in November are mighty high on the low end compared to averages throughout October.

I have also noticed this as well. There are a lot of doubles and singles going for $20-$40 these last 10 days or so. Hopefully we can see minimums back to $35 like they were 6 months ago.

I am getting abnormally high traffic on 10+ names with "bad" letters. When the asian market comes back up with the US market, maybe we will see a few more endusers hunting down X,Q,Z names.

I think increased consumer-confidence and economic-rebound can start earlier than when the inauguration takes place.

2-3 months until these rock-bottom prices end ya say? Maybe so.. I hope a bit earlier. Whatever the case it will be interesting to see when upward trend starts (yes, when... not if! )

As I type this, LLLL.com Snapname auctions seem to be ending (right now) quite higher than the past couple weeks, with more bidders than usual.

It seems possible to bring in new money to the domain word. After eating gains in the recent crash, investors will want to diversify.

So don't be afraid (myself included) to make yourself available to someone who wants to invest $5k or $10k in domain names - and as a part of their investment, a piece of it can go towards a portfolio of good LLLL.coms..

It's great to see people celebrating the anniversary of the buyout by raising prices a little lol. I sure miss those buyout days and it's good to see it wasn't all in vain. All of mine are renewed and I'm very happy to have them.

You could ask 4000$. And they might finally in 2-3 months accept your 4000$ offer. Or might not... I hope you at least tried to offer 4000$? But today we need to feel blood of end-user sales so selling even with 200-400% ROI over reseller price is very good for domainers and we tend to accept even these low offers I sold similar quality hgnn.com for similar amount - 850$. So I think it's ok. I got offer 650$ of g**b.com (all premium letters, no vowels), i insisted on $xxxx prices. But after long negotiations and counter-offers buyer disappeared. It seems that the buyer could not afford paying more than that. If I knew buyer would disappear I would accept 650$... I now put 700$ as min. offer to show that buyer is not right if he is back to buy this name. If we are not stong on our $xxxx and $xxxxx counter-offers we will never have high sales.

I think it's important not to hang too much on the daily, even weekly, price spikes and valleys but to take a longer market view. If you were to graph month-to-month the average expectable reseller value of LLLL.coms, we may well have already seen the nadir back in October. Which is to say we may already be trending gradually upward.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=358387

I say 2 or 3 months though until we see what may be the makings of a more bullish LLLL.com market. Bull markets need capital and confidence - which are of course deeply intertwined. Credit (the lifeblood of capital) has been radically constricted by a widespread loss of confidence in the American and global economic system. While Obama may not have any magic levers he can pull to release new floodgates of capital into the system, I think his inauguration will herald an enormous resurgence of hope ~ and hope is a very close cousin to confidence.

With more confidence in the system, the pursestrings on credit/capital should begin to loosen. The Fed's moves to lower the prime rate won't hurt either. In addition and at almost exactly the same time, the buyout drop cycle will be completing, and a new ratio of supply and demand will emerge. Less cheap supply in the form of drops should spell greater demand for a more limited supply, elevating prices.

It's also important to remember that the LLLL.com market took on a nearly perfect storm of calamitous conditions in the last year including naysayers, scammers, paypal fears, multiple buyouts, economic fears and subsquent global crisis (am I forgetting any?). It seems to have withstood the barage and to be now, post-buyout anniversary, in the process of righting itself.

Go LLLL.com!

Go LLLL.com!
GOLLLL.com is already taken

BTW, still in September I renewed all my LLLL.com (about 250, except 3-4 domains which I need to transfer to other registrator) which were expiring up until 01.07.2009, for one or two additional years.

Also in September I renewed 95% of my LLLL.net quads (about 300) and some 5L.com

I still have to renew 400 L-LL/LL-L.com and a small number of 5L.com (50 I think) due in April 2009. I hope the EUR/USD rate will get back to September levels before April

The $7-$10 sales look to be all renewed domains, someone renewing a name for $10 at godaddy only to get $7-$10 back doesn't signal an improvement over October prices to me. It basically means they lost 100% of their buyout invesment. Those $10 sellers would have more money in their pockets today if they'd let the name drop.

I have never seen a positive post from you on any topic. It is getting ridiculous.

I'm stating things as I see it, not really interested a bitchy dialog or insult swapping with you. If you really can't hold your tounge with these weak comments every time I post then put me on ignore or don't read this thread.

I am not swapping insults, I am stating facts. All you have to post are negative comments about everything.

Those names would have never dropped. Someone would have picked them up, and they would have never seen a fresh reg. Obviously about 99% of the people buying these domains are renewing them or upgrading. No matter what spin you put on it, these names will always be bought up before dropping, just look at TDNX everday.

For someone that is as interested in the LLLL market, you would think that you would be buying some as well. I don't spend much time debating topics I'm not interested in, but for some reason you do......?
