Yeah the prices are really going up on quality premiums like FBSE.com... Still some cheap ones with poorer quality premiums, but names with the better premiums like S and E in this guy are starting to see some nice prices, which I hope will translate into higher prices on 3x premiums containing those same letters.

I already have my collectible (LLLX.com), so hopefully IVII goes to a good pure domainer home and is never ever put to any meaningful purpose - rather proudly displayed on forums like Namepros as the trophy it is

But I was bidding for FSBE.com it was hot. 505$. The prices have really increased and significantly And I still have many not invested I wish I bought some more premium LLLL a month ago.

Yep. Prices are most certainly going up

Anyone wanting a cheap LLLL.com, check out this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Pick-Best-ONE-Fr...QQcmdZViewItem (it's not mine).

I'm out of Paypal balance, so hopefully one of you guys can get a cheap LLLL.com. Bidding is at $18.50 one a name of your choice from a list of 150 names... Some of them are triple premium. Maybe one of you can even work out a deal on the lot.

That's a different way of doing auction. A list of 150 but only pick 1.

I wonder if the one in the picture comes with it as a bonus...lol

Breast Cancer
this is a very smart way to auction: multiple people may have a favourite name and bidding to get it...this auction might increase the price this way... very clever indeed

Save a Life Protect Our Planet Wildlife
That is a really great way to auction off some names, and get a crowd bidding; it also helps to foster outside sales after the auction ends at the winning bid price. That's a great idea!

Actually, it's against eBay's rules to have a "choice" auction. (Look at this page.)
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=358387

If somebody reports that auction, forget about it.

So I guess if he offered a custom holding page AND any one of the names, that might skirt him around the issue; but I did see the page, another great idea squashed.

The prices are definitely going up now, there seems to be less people selling at reseller forums and nicely priced domains are snapping up on sedo or tdnam. This is really good news for investors who are happily sitting. I can see 3 LLLL's going up to min 12k and 4LLLL's sitting on min 6K in easy 2 years from now. As for newbies who have just gone on board good luck in finding one at a price you can afford, the amount of bidders are increasing now too as the demand is much higher. Every now and than you can still snap up a bargain if your lucky, so for the thrill seeking gamblers don't give up yet, maybe a month or so left before the prices start getting rediculously well i'll say nicely priced!

LOL

I'd be happy to take 100k on mine and try and re-purchase the equivalent before prices head up >$60/per on decent non-premiums.

A min $6K in 2 years time is just under 100,000% increase over 2 years.

Somehow I doubt it

That would make my collection worth... 10 million!
I'd be ecstatic with one tenth of that (so humble asking for only 1 million ).
Realistically expecting 1600 LLLL.coms of mainly of 1 and 2 bad letter variety non-premiums to be worth $125k-$200k in 2 years though

With LLLL.com, the thing I can't get my head around are the value of non-pronounceable names.

The only thing would be eventual end user sales, if they don't get any type-in traffic.

While I don't have any numbers, this is still a long way from happening even with LLL.com, and with LLLL.com I guess the business name would need to be 4 words long, which is less likely than it being 3 words long. Add to this there are thousands and thousands more LLLL.com domains out there than LLL.com and I just don't see it.

I can see $XX or maybe a few hundred eventually for VQXY.com or something down the track, just based on rarity, but $1K?

Please, enlighten me!

Think about it this way...

LLL.com (decent one that actually has a chance in hell of getting an enduser) = $10,000+

LLLL.com (same 3 letters as the LLL.com plus a ghastly letter like J, Q, X, Y, Z) = $40-$80.

Assuming you're purchasing them at $40, you'd need 1/250th the endusers for that particular LLL.com to break even on this alternative, in theory...

In reality, there's not many names with 250 potential endusers... However, if you carry this out over thousands and thousands of LLLL.coms versus a handful of LLL.coms, I think it becomes apparant that "enduser-wise", many LLLL.coms appear to be more reasonably priced than LLL.coms.

A $7, it was somewhat of a given and tbh, I'm quite surprised more people didn't see the similarities here early-on... At $40, perhaps it's not quite as obvious and no doubt, as prices continue to increase, LLLL.coms will become less and less of a bargain - more and more priced towards what the market will bear. As LLL.coms go up, this naturally makes LLLL.coms more affordable once again... When an LLL.com owner knows that any Tom, Dick, and Harry domainer will pay $10,000 for their name... They're not likely to sell for $10,000... Many of them want 2-3x their names value just because they can afford to wait and because there are buyers out there.. If prices keep going up the way they are, most companies out there won't be able to afford their LLL.com acronyms...
