Parkinson's Disease Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS) Autism Alzheimer's
I was just outbid (some by quite a bit) on several names closing within a few minutes of each other on eBay tonight ->

IGQX - 40.50 - 8 bids
IJQX - 20.53 - 8 bids
IJFQ - 38.58 - 12 bids
IHVQ - 23.50 - 7 bids
DQPQ - 46.07 - 17 bids
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=358387

meanwhile my own "fine fine superfine" EYSV closed @ 22 tonight here in an NP auction.
ROI on that one was ... somewhere around minus 50 cents, depending on PayPal fees etc ...
(I won EYSV it on eBay for 20.73 on Nov 3d)

So far I've done much better ROI-wise on the few "100% anti-premium" pieces I've sold ...!
Will see how that trend holds up going forward (though I'm not going to be selling many even of the anti-premiums anytime soon) - expected to do a bit better with EOYZ and EYSV, but I guess this "early bird" ate some worms this time! Live and learn - and glad to see another nice one (EYSV) going into Johnny's vault anyway!

not usually, though may have a bit of time to kill from time to time ... Assuming the question is in response to my recent post about eBay and NP auction prices - curious to know why do you ask? (It's not obvious to me, but I'm a bit dense. Certainly this may look like penny-ante domaining at first glance, and then again at second glance ... okay - so what's your point?)

Filter, thanks for posting and being up front about your successful sales and minute failures. Your time is greatly appreciated; and without failure, there would never be success.

When I hear questions like that, it forces an old word from my mouth that's understood in all languages: Pishhh

right on ID, live and let live. And KingDon - thanks very much for the kind words.

Lasher asks a good question though! Wanted to make sure I was not misunderstanding, though it's fairly straightforward ... So I'll answer a bit more (before posting more sales - or now, actually purchases - I like those better!)

money earned so far for time spent domaining is ... pennies per hour at best. Lessons learned so far been much more valuable, and the tuition has been minimal in terms of $ (and I really can't complain about the couple hundred $$ I've actually cleared in profits already after just a few months - it comes in handy when I'm waiting for that next paycheck from the day job!). So - if this were "work" - well, I wouldn't exactly be making a living wage at this level.

But domaining for me is somewhere between "play" and "study" ... Which is not a bad way to spend my time when I'm not helping my kids with their homework, or studying something else, or relaxing in some other way ...

Meanwhile, time spent buying, selling, and posting seems to be reflected nicely in rep points and TR ... So if I ever move up from learning the ropes with $20 domains and start trading with $2000 or $20,000 pieces ... well, what was that time worth really?

And if I won a nice E---.com on eBay for $20 and change, and sold it 6 weeks later for $22 minus paypal fee and 60 $NP for a yellow highlight on the post title, LOL ... well, it was a nice one but fortunately that wasn't actually the one domain I was planning to retire on, plenty more still in my portfolio for the long haul - and that $22 (minus paypal fee etc) can go right back out and see what else is out there in the auctions. And that nice E---.com got picked up by a great LLLL domainer, the legendary "vacuum cleaner" who has quietly helped push this market along to where it is now.

So no worries about that - I mark that as a successful sale in my book. And the 50 cents or whatever I said goodbye to in that one little trade is worth about $500 in lessons learned about when to put the special ones out on auction ...
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=358387

So thanks for asking that question Lasher - along with all the above "time well spent" - it's also a good reminder to keep in mind the value of time - so from that perspective can take it as a friendly, helpful, somewhat curt but ultimately quite appropriate question to ask - good food for thought.

Bought on NP today ->
HQVI + DWXP for $48, package price ...

and another purchase still in progress, will update on that tomorrow.

Was thinking how did you calculate this Made a lot of formulas and could not calculate how many domains you have at GoDaddy Strange thing. Perhaps I became too old for mathematics

I have around 130 domains at godaddy

70$/130 domains = $0,54 per domain of additional to $7,05 costs per year

I've been buying a bunch here on NP yesterday and today ... may not be able to post all the myriad details exactly at the moment, but here's one nice purchase from today ->

itgq + ugbw + vufg + yiqr + yvsc (fixed price @ 25 each / 30 for vufg = $115 total after a $15 volume discount, thanks!) ... so bulk rate = average $23 each for the 5 of these "semi-decent" critters (no Z or X but Y Q V U).

I can understand Lashers point, but I agree with Filters philosophy. No matter how much money you have, you can't buy more time. Therefore you might as well enjoy the journey. Domaining is fun. There are lots of ups and downs mixed in with a glimmer of gold in the future. I liked your comment Filter when you stated that you didn't mind small defeats like losing a couple of bucks on a domain and you see those lessons as an opportunity for growth. I know that if every domain I purchased turned a profit, if their was no risk, challenge, need for research, feeling as if I had uncovered buried treasure, etc., domaining would not be half as fun. Rep coming your way.
