![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yes they can stream videos but the bandwidth required would be fairly expensive to surf for this, best way is to download the videos you want with dsl and then convert them to the media required then transfer them to the phone via your usb cable.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think you can use frames!
Before in the document one of the rules was no frames. But now, in the mtld.mobi document it says the following: 4.1.3 Use of Frames [dotMobi] Do not use frames (standard or inline) unless the target client is known to support them http://pc.mtld.mobi/documents/dotmob...er_Guide3.html Notice the words "in case the target client is known to support them" All the latest PDAs and windows mobile (from my treo 700W) are known to show frames now, so the "target client supports them" in this case and my subsequent interpretation now is its ok to use frames. It is just that the current windows mobile does not support the Iframe tag (and Java yet, but thats another issue soon to be resolved i guess ) Regards, | ||||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What about video games, and movies that are served up from your site? How does their file format effect the site being 'valid' .Mobi? How do they effect Xhtml? I remember having difficulty getting html pages to pass code compliant because of 'flash' game files (etc.) and assume this is going to be just as difficult. I've never worked with Xhtml though.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Flash is supported by a few Verizon phones see (http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pres...06Verizon.html) Other than that, flash has yet to be put in phones (in the mainstream, most don't have flash enabled phones.) The fileformat as far as I have tested does not greatly affect phone usage (a .php will process just like any other would) I find that XHTML is more compatiable with Mobiles because of the development that phones are XML/WAP so XML HTML works best. If you are not developing in HTML. - Steve

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | There really needs to be a standard that any mWare can run on any phone, but it may be a long way off. How far are we from being able to develop mware downloads for users? Say someone created a game, could you even sell it? Paypal for phones? I think the mobile companies will have a lot to say how this stuff pans out. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Paypal for phones will come with popularity. As for the games, yes.. Games for cell phones is already a $100 Million dollar business. EA Games has brought in over $100 Million on there Mobile Video Games. - Steve

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | MOBI Emulator Question In working with the MOBI emulator, it appears that none of the popular email programs work properly. Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo mail. Gmail won't even successfully log you in. Hotmail and Yahoo Mail will let you view your inbox. But when composing an email, you can enter an email address and subject, but are not allowed to enter text in the body of the message (most important). Has anyone else noticed this? If you'd like to try them out ... Emulator Gmail ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=346449 Emulator Hotmail ... Choose Mail and then "next" to log into Hotmail Emulator Yahoo Mail ... Choose Mail and log in If anyone tries this, I would appreciate your input. I don't know if these problems are confined to the Emulator only or can be duplicated on others' cell phones.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have made a VERY simple .mobi template for any of you to use: http://www.kerrij.com/mobitemplate.html Use "View Source" in your browser to see the html, open in Notepad, save as index.html in your chosen file folder, right click and save the logo.jpg if you want to use it also. Cheers! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I signed up with www.admob.com and have sorted out some adverts for mobile sites now, its a pretty good system and easy to use. There is a lot of interest from companies who bid on adverts, that go on your mobile site, and I was fairly impressed ![]() The thing that was initially throwing me was changing the extension of the files to .php instead of .html (or .xhtml) so I could place their code within the pages, but it works perfectly.

![]() | I put them on my sites, but I then checked it on their own checker, and their own site did not work, but my site did, but when I checked it in the checker at mltd, it worked. http://o2-external.waprunner.wap3.ne...&runmode=popup click on "great mobile sites"

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Godaddy uses Website Tonight free with your .mobi domain purchase. I found it limited in use and too much whitespace between header and footer. I contacted support and they said there is nothing they could do about that. It is however really easy to use and good for those who don't want to spend a lot of time figuring out how to develope on their own. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You should be able to push xml/rss feeds straight to a mobile, there are 3rd party utils as well for the end user like http://www.mobilerss.net/ and many others which allow you to sync with your mobile the feeds you require. Since Vbulletin has a pda version then it is possible to read these forums directly if you know the url and they publish the pda/archive versions. It should be something like http://www.domain.com/archive/index.php/

![]() | Here is a great tutorial if anybody is interested. Plenty of code examples are given in the WML tutorial to help you understand the concepts and techniques. I found some templates that helped me get some simple pages up quickly. http://www.developershome.com/wap/wml/ |
