I am a newbie.
I was happy registering domain scored high by estibot because has good alexa rank.

For example : Pluriel.org and Caups.org

But somebody tell me that alexa can be faked. I hope estibot correct for this bug.

Hasn't Yahoo stopped updating the Overture database? Have you considered using Keyword Discovery instead of Overture?

Yes, this occurs sometimes. I'm working on a feature that would display valuation with and without the estimated traffic.

Let me say once more that as the fat disclaimer says, please do not register, buy or sell domain names based on the estibot appraisal alone.

I've updated the site. Any comments on the new look? I wanted to make it simpler and more concise.

The keyword detection is suffering from some glitches. If you don't get proper keyword detection, use CapitalizationOfKeywords...I'm working on making it more reliable.

I've been domaining for three years, and this is the first Domain Valuation tool that I've come across that (I feel) projects realistic values for domains across the board. I ran 10-15 of mine through estibot, and although I think some of the results may be a tad high (my two .pro domains averaged $4,500) , I think you're on the mark with a good majority of the valuations.

I really appreciate the metrics section of your site, which explains the valuation method. I also like the fact that estibot uses existing sales data to produce an appraisal value.

!! the ONLY critique i would offer is that having the
'Sedo appraisal' button fondling and groping the 'appraise another' button is..... well, a turn-off. i dont mind them being on the site (heck, i even APPRECIATE having their service handily available on yours) , but dont want to feel like im playing operation when i want to throw a couple names through.... other than that, the feeling as a returning user must still pale in comparison to what a first timer would experience...... it's awesome!! keep up the fine work. denver

Are you using IE? With Firefox and Safari the buttons are better separated, but thanks for letting me know. I'm sure I can work out something a bit more unobtrusive. Check back soon and let me know what you think.

What is the highest appraisal anyone has got for an unregistered domain? Just tonight I got an appraisal for $620, and a few more in the $40 - $100 range. Naturally I registered a couple!
(PS I don't even check domains unless I think they are good, so yes I am well aware of the discalimer warning on the site)

I made some updates today. Now you get two different valuations: One is a traditional domain valuation for the domain name only (backlinks are considered because they are an asset of a domain).

Additionally, a valuation is presented that takes into account traffic stats. The traffic is an estimate calculated by EstiBot - there is no way to get direct traffic data so this is an estimate. It's not based on alexa rank, but alexa stats are a part of the estimation.

In other words, the first valuation is for the domain name itself, and the second valuation is for the historical success of the domain and whatever existing website it has. Of course, website content is not valuated (say, e-book by stephen king), and also EstiBot does not attempt to valuate the company itself (say, Google). What this means is that it is the combined value of the domain name and the traffic, backlinks and brandability that results from the historical success of the website(s) that have been active at that domain.

Also I speeded up the website. I've optimized the API calls and also added a 25-second timeout threshold. If the OVT is not produced within 25 seconds, an error is reported and the results are shown. If you get a Searches/mo timeout, it's worth having another go, because searches/mo is one of the most important parameters of domain valuation.

Also, the current API interface cannot determine whether Traffic Rank is real or fake, so I've added a VERIFY link to each traffic valuation - this will take you to a page that checks whether the Traffic Rank is real or not.

More updates and improvements are still on the way.

Made some improvements:

-EstiBot now recognizes GEO domains and gives them a bonus according to market trends (based on an analysis of recent sales). It will state in green text if it thinks the domain is geographic. Only single-word domains get a bonus. So, DallasValetParking.com won't get a bonus - because it's pretty much impossible to detect whether such a domain is a viable GEO domain - e.g. DutchMountains.com

-GEO detection is still a work in progress so don't be too critical

-The TLD valuation has been updated to reflect the current market. Many ccTLD's are still a big question mark. Also, mega domains now score better in non-com tld's than so-so domains. This is according to what's been happening in the market. (e.g. chinese.net, chinese.info, travel.info, sex.info - all higher than the usual non-com tld valuation)

-EstiBot no longer mistakenly overvaluates hyphenated domains

-I've made lots of other little improvements in the algorithm

Known issues:
-plural detection is clumsy - I'm working on improving this

-backlink check is often timed-out and erroneously shows zero. I'm working on this, too. Should be fixed soon - backlinks are not easy to estimate, and the provider is limiting my calls to 5,000 per day - on most days this is exceeded. I'm looking at other solutions

-I'm still depending on OVT for search popularity. This is the main caveat. It gets timed out too often, and is not very accurate. Let's hope I can afford a good API keyword research solution in the near future. They're damned expensive.

I often check loads more than this amount of backlinks per day, and my backlink lookup is generally quite fast, could you tell me which search engines you check, as I'm puzzled why this part is so slow
