| Developer of Estibot | Had a little hiccup today... EstiBot was giving weird appraisals for about 8 hours. This was due to MSN API getting overheated. They have a 10,000 search limit per day and it was exceeded. Should be fixed now. I made some changes and MSN is called now only when necessary, that should increase stability. Anyone tried out the type-in traffic checker yet? |

I am pretty sure they have some overture and wordtracker point, but not sure about extension-overture and extension-wordtracker. eg. I have lacus.mobi according to estibot, it has 2950 overture/month and 785 wordtracker/day but when I put that to traffic checker it gives me "no result found" pretty weird, it doesnt even list my lacus.mobi. | |

| Developer of Estibot | Quote:
It's not the same as Overture for the keyword. For instance, lacus.mobi has Overture (for "lacus") of 2,950 per month. Lacus.mobi has Overture with extension (for "lacus.mobi") of zero per month. Therefore, the Overture with extension (OVT w/ext) is zero and it is not listed in the EstiBot type-in traffic checker results, because only the ones with OVT w/ext are listed. This means that people are unlikely to type in "lacus.mobi" in their browser and the domain is unlikely to have much type-in traffic. This is not a surefire way of determining type-in traffic, but it's the best that's available with the current resources. Having plenty of OVT or Wordtracker with extension usually means that there is a good chance that the domain will have direct, type-in traffic. Lack of type-in traffic does not necessarily mean that the domain is bad. It just indicates that PPC parking for the domain is not necessarily a significantly profitable venture. The domain may still be good for other reasons. I know that many domains that have zero "OVT w/ext" still make a good profit with PPC due to backlinks, and such type-ins that OVT / Wordtracker don't cover - most of my traffic domains have no OVT w/ext. Therefore, the type-in traffic checker should be used as an indicator only. If the OVT w/ext is very high, it is statistically significantly indicative of a high probability of some type-in traffic. If it is zero, it is unlikely, but not impossible, that the domain has type-in traffic. Type-in traffic is important, because if you have converting type-in traffic for a domain, the domain will be profitable. Say your domain makes $1 per month in type-in conversions. All you have to do is acquire 30,000 of such domains and your revenue will be $30,000 per month. Needless to say, almost all such traffic domains have already been registered. Nevertheless, it's still possible to find them, especially in ccTLDs and IDN domains. I hope I was able to answer your question EDIT: I posted an extended answer on my blog: http://innerblogger.com/blogging/200...00000-a-month/ Cheers! Josh

| Developer of Estibot | Just a notification: Although my real name has been in my profile and title all along, many people call me Josh, which is my longtime Internet nickname (I adopted it many years ago in other forums). This has caused some degree of confusion in private correspondence. Therefore, I've decided to drop "Josh" and start using my real name Esa and the handle "estibot.com" here on NamePros to avoid any confusion. Thanks- Esa (the artist formerly known as Josh_1) |

| Developer of Estibot | I'd like to invite you to give me some feedback on this idea. I have made some powerful versions of the EstiBot tools that I'd like to share. One is the bulk type-in traffic checker - you could input up to 30,000 domains at a time to have it detect those with OVT w/ext or WT w/ext. It takes just a couple of minutes to analyze 30,000 domains. The other one is a mega bulk version of the "bulk appraisal", only a little different. Again, you can enter 30,000 domains and have all of them sorted by OVT / WT / google results / google ad score / appraisal. This thing takes a bit longer to run because it needs to parse the keywords, and the keyword parser is far from perfect, but it will find the gems. Also a bulk keyword analysis feature, where you can enter search terms / key phrases, up to 30,000 at a time, and have them display all the search data that you see on EstiBot main appraisal page - and some extras, too. AGain it only takes a couple of minutes to analyze 30,000 keywords. Now, I have nowhere near the server power to make these tools public, so I'd need a separate server for these functions. That's why I'm asking: Would you be willing to pay a little monthly fee to get access to these sort of tools, and if so, how much would you be willing to pay per month? For nearly unlimited searches, that is. You could analyze -say- 500,000 domains/keywords per day. I would like to provide these tools for free, but due to bandwidth/CPU limits it's not possible. The current tools are free thanks to your donations and some ad income. |

| Developer of Estibot | Brujah- thanks, I will look at options to get you access to the mega bulks. I'm going to have to organize things a little bit first around the server, and I'll let you know by PM when they are ready for you to try out. By the way, I have now released the Domain Extractor script for public use. You can buy a licence to use it own your own site for an unlimited time for only $29. This includes the fully functional standalone script. I'll advertise it on another thread here. Thanks- esa |

| Developer of Estibot | Right... I've made a set of tools that enables me to easily isolate domains of interest from large lists. From today's drop list I isolated a bunch of LLLL.coms. I input about 50,000 domains and within a couple of minutes the system spat out this list. Here you are, LLLL.coms dropping today (from network solutions): avjq.com bcym.com bpki.com dnqj.com dzda.com eqff.com eqwl.com exvx.com eynn.com fszs.com gvyx.com gxeg.com gyiq.com hsxc.com hxcf.com jxix.com jxwm.com kvus.com lezn.com lhaq.com mpbx.com nrry.com oxgs.com pkgl.com qbgq.com qofd.com rrqk.com tndq.com txzh.com uisq.com uwxx.com uzsj.com vfbw.com wnqd.com xwqc.com ycng.com yubp.com zdmp.com ztzq.com |

| Senior Member | Hi Esa- I ran appraisals of a couple dozen one word domains - Com, org, info and us, in late October (single name appraiser). I re-ran the same names late December. Some were down a little, some were down 50%, some were unchanged, some were up a little, some were up 100%. No discernible pattern. Overall a lot more up than down, rough estimate a gain of 20% for the two months for the group. Most of the values were in the $50 - $500 range. Are you still changing the tool which would account for the variations? Do you think the inputs varied to that extent over two months, or ---- ahhh ---- is the domain market moving that quickly and is Estibot so subtle as to detect eddies and sub-currents within that growth?? |
| |
| | #241 (permalink) |
| Developer of Estibot | I think I did the last algo update between your runs. Since december there should not be any major changes. The values may change a little bit with time, and as more sales data comes in the algo will be adjusted accordingly. Variation of about 20-30% is not significant as it's within the margin of error anyway. Thanks Esa |

| NamePros Regular | I sure hope this isn't the case... http://blog.domaintools.com/2008/01/...eas-confirmed/ (search for estibot in the comments) If this is true then it is very disturbing.

| Developer of Estibot | It's a known fact that any whois call is vulnerable to sniffers/tasters who register domains that other users search, and then taste them for traffic. It has nothing to do with EstiBot other than that EstiBot performs a whois search with each appraisal. The "stealing" happens at the end of the whois servers, such as Network Solutions. I do not give or sell the EstiBot searches to anyone, they are not even recorded. It would be the most idiotic thing for a webmaster to do, try to con smart domainers - especially when I work hard to make EstiBot meet the needs of domainers Like any webmaster, I want traffic, especially repeat traffic, I want my site to be useful and have a great reputation. These goals are incompatible with abusing the searches. Domainers are smart and would abandon such a site. I've had 3 or 4 reports of domains having been registered by someone else after they searched it on EstiBot. Considering the 500,000 page views a month, that's not a lot. Not to mention it would still fall well within the realm of coincidence. But yes, whois servers are compromised. |

| Developer of Estibot | The Bulk tool at http://estibot.com/batch.php has been updated! You can now separate your keywords by capitalization: Enter: usedcars.com if you want EstiBot to attempt keyword detection UsedCars.com if you want to define the keywords yourself This is useful because the keyword detection routine isn't working as well as I would hope. Now you can input your list of up to 100 domain names with custom keyword definition thanks esa |

| Developer of Estibot | It's time for another brave prediction game: GreatDomains auction is going on and will be finishing tomorrow. Here, then are the EstiBot.com predictions for the final prices. I'm trying something new here. I have run these domains through both the single tool and the bulk tool. The appraisal given here is the range between the valuations given by single and bulk appraisals. They employ different algorithms due to the special resource requirements of the bulk tool, so they give somewhat different valuations. I'm trying to see if this range can be used for giving a more general, more ballpark appraisal for domains. The values here represent $US. Some of the domains are priced in EUR, so we'll have to convert once the auction is over. indian.com 320,000 - 1,000,000 49.com 52,000 - 140,000 sit.com 150,000 - 240,000 optimize.com 31,000 - 32,000 flats.com 56,000 - 68,000 ankle.com 40,000 - 63,000 w4.com 19,000 - 32,000 tees.com 92,000 - 120,000 plo.com 33,000 - 41,000 dormitory.com 18,000 - 26,000 647.com 18,000 - 24,000 puu.com 14,000 - 17,000 uul.com 2,200 - 9,800 niq.com 8,000 ojj.com 7,500 uoo.com 5,700 - 9,400 jfn.com 7,800 jln.com 7,700 - 8,700 vko.com 8.200 - 8,600 bqa.com 7,400 jyh.com 8,100 kyp.com 5,800 - 12,000 exu.com 6,800 - 10,000 ryi.com 5,000 - 13,000 synthetic.com 25,000 - 47,000 zmy.com 6,900 xws.com 5,700 - 9,900 though.com 24,000 - 53,000 wfz.com 7,000 seasonPasses.com 2,200 - 2,500 sexuality.net 34,000 - 36,000 specialReport.com 22,000 - 41,000 industrialSupplies.com 22,000 - 560,000 disgust.com 15,000 - 20,000 influential.com 11,000 - 22,000 virginIslands.net 840 - 1,500 weak.net 4,300 - 6,500 nubians.com 5,200 - 8,000 summerLeague.com 3,200 - 5,600 modems.net 4,000 - 4,400 playspace.com 1,800 directDeposits.com 1,500 - 5,400 carFinancer.com 20 notables.com 6,700 - 19,000 freshPoultry.com 400 - 1,100 tabloidPhotos.com 170 - 1,100 boticario.net 160 - 320 doners.net 20 officially.com 15,000 - 21,000 naturalismo.com 2,000 - 4,900 frenchStudent.com 450 telephoneService.net 410 - 1,000 yourGenealogy.com 90 cellists.com 3,200 - 8,100 goldRimmed.com 670 - 1,600 hiFives.com 1,100 - 2,300 interleaguePlay.com 380 - 990 leadOffHitter.com 370 - 790 moans.net 1,400 - 3,300 scoopable.com 240 smallForward.com 850 - 1,800 thirdBaseman.com 2,200 - 5,400 For the record, here are the exact appraisals from the single tool, which is still my primary system and IMO more reliable: indian.com 320,000 49.com 140,000 sit.com 150,000 optimize.com 31,000 flats.com 56,000 ankle.com 40,000 w4.com 32,000 tees.com 120,000 plo.com 33,000 dormitory.com 18,000 647.com 18,000 puu.com 14,000 uul.com 9,800 niq.com 8,000 ojj.com 7,500 uoo.com 9,400 jfn.com 7,800 jln.com 8,700 vko.com 8,600 bqa.com 7,400 jyh.com 8,100 kyp.com 12,000 exu.com 10,000 ryi.com 13,000 synthetic.com 25,000 zmy.com 6,900 xws.com 9,900 though.com 53,000 wfz.com 7,000 seasonPasses.com 2,200 sexuality.net 34,000 specialReport.com 41,000 industrialSupplies.com 560,000 disgust.com 15,000 influential.com 22,000 virginIslands.net 1,500 weak.net 4,300 nubians.com 5,200 summerLeague.com 5,600 modems.net 4,400 playspace.com 1,800 directDeposits.com 5,400 carFinancer.com 20 notables.com 6,700 freshPoultry.com 400 tabloidPhotos.com 170 boticario.net 160 doners.net 20 officially.com 21,000 naturalismo.com 2,000 frenchStudent.com 450 telephoneService.net 1,000 yourGenealogy.com 90 cellists.com 3,200 goldRimmed.com 670 hiFives.com 1,100 interleaguePlay.com 380 leadOffHitter.com 790 moans.net 1,400 scoopable.com 240 smallForward.com 850 thirdBaseman.com 5,400

| Developer of Estibot | I'm working on redesigning the estibot pages. I plan to revamp the whole thing when I have the time, but I already made some changes today in anticipation of the new look. I synced the css on all pages so everything looks more in order now. The problem with making changes is that I made the whole thing using Notepad (actually, TextEdit) and raw html so there is no CMS.... I also resized some ads and such, so that it looks neater. I increased the width of the page and made some changes to improve compatibility with Internet Explorer. The sidebars are now in the right place in IE, too. IE is a bummer, why do people still use it? And last, but by no means least, I installed the new logo, designed by our very own Bannen! That's a fine logo and no mistake! -Esa |
