I'm new to this domain game and questions on my way to fame....

Q: I just got my first domains (awww.....) and I want to really design the sites myself for ads, but for now, I'd like to park them. What kind of commitment is involved? Can I park domains for a couple weeks and then get out of the parking spot?

Q: For parking, do I need to pay hosting fees? Or I just register a domain and park, no fees?

Q: Why does it seem like some domains that mean nothing, make no sense (dcoulpet.com etc) draw traffic and sale bids? What does it take to get traffic?

Q: Is it possible/feasible to register a brandnew domain (ie, no pre-existing traffic, links) and build traffic? How?
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/domain-newbies/3282-namefaqs-answers-common-domain-name-questions.html

I got a lot more questions but for now, I'm all questioned out.

Yes, you can park your domains for whatever time you see fit. Would it be couple of weeks, couple of years, couple of days or even couple of hours (yes, even couple of hours is possible - nowadays DNS propagation is almost instant). The only thing you will need to change when you'll feel like parking them at another spot is nameservers at the registrar.

This depends on your hosting company. Usually they make it clear to you, how many domains you'll be able to host/park/add with hostingplanA or hostingplanB. Sometimes it could be unlimited (although I strongly discourage you to using hosting which advertises 'unlimited' space and bandwith). Contact your hosting company if in doubt.

Server.But as on Wikipedia .
The Domain Name System (DNS) is a system that stores information associated with domain names in a distributed database on networks, such as the Internet. The domain name system associates many types of information with domain names, but most importantly, it provides the IP address associated with the domain name. It also lists mail exchange servers accepting e-mail for each domain. This means that DNS is involved with each page visit on the internet and with each email message sent.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=3282

DNS is useful for several reasons. Most well known, the DNS makes it possible to attach hard-to-remember IP addresses (such as 207.142.131.206) to easy-to-remember domain names (such as "wikipedia.org") Humans take advantage of this when they recite URLs and e-mail addresses. Less recognized, the domain name system makes it possible for people to assign authoritative names, without needing to communicate with a central registrar each time.

Dynamic DNS allows broadband internet users to identify their domain name with a dynamic IP. Since most ISPs allocate dynamic IPs to home users, these subscribers are otherwise inhibited from establishing their own domains. With DDNS, users can register their domain and associated with a server on their own network (say, a WinXP box running IIS) in spite of the fact that their IP will change periodically.

Originally we used to roll our own DDNS services using bind and nsupdate, but today anyone can subscribe to a DDNS service provider. And the best bit is--it's usually FREE! The DDNS provider then updates the A records, MX records, and CNAME records to your new IP every time it changes, snap!
got to dyndns.org for dynamic dns services. cheap as heck.

Though I do like how each of the entries are posted in a category specific to their content, is there a way to see them all in one shot? Since there are not a lot of them to view right now, it probably isn't much of a big deal, but then again, I like ot take chunks of time from my day to read FAQ's, and to read them all in one shot would be great.

Also, thank you for the site.

Nice post!
I would like to add few more things regarding this questions.

If we think of the other aspects of domain name which plays
a very important role in SEO. Then choosing a good keyword
for a domain name is also very improtant.

So waht makes a good keyword?

You can choose a good keyword by doing a bit of research using
google, wordtracker, and overtune.

Using wordtracker & some other SEO tools you can check the traffic
of that particular keyword. The more traffic that keyword has the
more profitable that keyword becomes and so the domain becomes.

Then if the cost per click of that keyword is high, then it can pay
you some good bucks if you are parking them.

But again these tow factors are secondry the main point which one
should take care that your main aim is to sell that domain name,
so the name must attract the buyers.

Now a days most of the general names are registered so you should
think of some innovative names. But then again you should take care
of the fact that you are buying the domain name for selling.

PR- Google Page Rank (or PR as it is often referred to as) is simply an indication of the number of websites that link to a specific website. It also attempts to indicate the quality of those links. PR ranges from 0 to 10 (with 10 being the 'best' PR and 0 being the 'worst'). The vast majority of small business websites will usually find they have a PR of between 0 and 5.

To calculate a particular sites PR, Google uses a fairly complicated algorithm based on the number of web links that it is aware of that link to the site in question. This algorithm will also take into account the PR of the page that is providing the link, thus a link from a web page that has a PR of 7 will be considered more valuable than a link from a page with a PR of 4.

What activity you have in mind behind the domain? I.e. will it be for a big corporation, church, portal, etc?

1) .com-->most imp

2) Then .net, .org or .biz depending upon the kind of site you are
trying to develop.

If it is business related then .biz.
If it is internet related or some kind of portal or information site .net is good.
If it is for any non profit organisation then you can go for .org

3) Then .info

4) Then .us

5) Then .name or .web-- these names are not widely used.
