Based on extensive testing we have done internally anything new added to a page is just a distraction for the surfers. 99.5% of the time you add rss feeds or other content mainly for the search engines more than you do for the surfers. So something like a javascript or flash widget doesn't really help with the search engines. But if a surfer finds it on the page, then it may be helpful, but that doesn't mean anybody will make any additional money. Except for usually the owner of the widget.

Go to your domain edit page.
Scroll down to bottom of that page.
Click on square button next to "Custom Content".
This will open up custom content editor window.

To add affiliate banner...
Click on menu icon that look like computer monitor on top.
This will give you popup window.
Type in your URL for your banner image.
Click "Insert" button.
Now, you should see banner image.
Click the banner one time.
Click menu icon that look like chain (unbroken chain) on top.
Type in your affiliate URL.
Click "Insert" button.

Here is one of my site with banner.
It's not affiliate banner, but, it should work same.

RPC - way up. Makes the Canadian/American long weekend/week extra special instead of a write-off due to the expected drop in traffic.

Overall the numbers are looking pretty good today. Much better than I would have expected because of the US holiday. Maybe everybody decided to stay at home, since Kobayashi lost the Hot Dog eating contest today.

Happy Fourth! 2 more hours and I'll be blowing some things up.

Didn't do very well with parking today, but my fireworks site hit record numbers, between the ads, t-shirts and affiliate stuff.

We blowed up some good stuff today too. Nothing like the time we filled a frozen turkey full of illegal fireworks and shot it over downtown Ann Arbor, but it was still good. It's a wonder nobody ever calls the cops.

It was much quieter here in Richmond, VA. At such times I really miss the thrills at Navy Pier in Chicago. My friends in downtown Chicago are still having a blast as I write this.

Who would have ever guessed eating hot dogs could get you on CNN headline news? After the 4th I Hope everyone wakes up with with 10 fingers and 10 toes.

Overall everything was about 10% less than last Friday, which is much better than I thought considering most people in the US had the day off. And I learned something new yesterday as well, more people drink on the 4th than any other day of the year. I don't necessarily agree, but that's what I was told.

That might explain the fireworks stuffed frozen turkey being shot over downtown Ann Arbor. Right Meg?

Fragger is on a distinguished road
Has anyone else noticed an increase in visitors but a significant decrease in CTR the past 4-5 days? Every day for the last 4-5 days my CTR has been about half of what it has normally been for the past 6 months.....I assume it is because many of my domains that used to be 1 click landers have now switched over to 2 click landers.. something I just recently noticed. Anyone else experiencing a similar situation?

Nah, I don't drink; never have. At least, not after age 15 or 16.

The turkey thing was part revenge part scientific experiment. One of my geek friends won it in a raffle where he worked and had no place to store it. I loaned him part of my freezer, but 18 months later it was still there. I told him if he didn't pick it up in five days, I was going to fill it full of fireworks and shoot it over downtown Ann Arbor.

He didn't and I did.

Interesting about 4th of July and drinking, but I'd be surprised if that was true all over. Here it's St. Patrick's Day.

Yeah..... that is the sorry state of news these days at CNN. It's total tabloid and puppy pictures these days at CNN. They also use vague titles for articles to increase click through rates - since you can't tell if you want to read the story without clicking through first and seeing what the hell they are talking about.

I have a really strong category-killer type alcohol domain with Parked and nothing beats New Years Eve. The cycle repeats every year. It looks like traffic is up 30% for the July 4th weekend. However, on New Years Eve traffic goes up about 600%. It's a hard alcohol domain and not beer/wine related.

Unless beer, wine, etc.... is that much bigger on July 4th compared to New Years Eve, then I'm guessing that New Years Eve wins hands down as the day with the most alcohol consumption.

I imagine beer is consumed more on July 4th with all the BBQ's and such. It would be interesting to know the breakdown on different holidays regarding what is consumed.

Hmmm, I'm new to this so may not be really good at explaining "or understanding for that matter" things but I think if you have a good amount of names like 100 or more it's likely bots may be visiting many of those names on a daily basis. Could even be Google indexing some.

The 5th hasn't finalized yet but is showing as my highest ctr so far this month.

I'm actually showing a 7% increase in CTR so far this month compared to last month.
