It's a 3 letter extremely popular word that somehow can be used by any company...
All the rest is speculation.

Anyone can set any reserve price on any name they want in an auction. it doesnt mean the name is worth anywhere close to it though. 20 offers on sedo could all be from just 2 people. If i make someone an offer for 100 bucks and they counter with 100k and then i counter again with 200 and then they say 90k and then i counter back with 300 then that is 3 offers even though it could all be from the same person. most of the offers were probably all lowball $xxx offers.

Just like some people told me trash.mobi could be sold for $250-500 (even $100..) and the next day I received an offer 10 times higher...

Ads is a great name but truth of the matter is I don't feel it is as strong as singles or real estate cuz when u think about it, any website u see on a .com is filled with "ads" anyways with google adsense or some affiliate banner ad so regardless that IMO negates it's strength as opposed to the above but nonetheless ads should sell pretty well since it's short,simple, and to the point.
