Hi html,

Getting interest in hacks is just the same as with any other domain, well actually that is not quite true, when dealing with other domainers or end-users it is normally quite clear early on whether they are interested or not. If they are interested then they already see things 'your way', if not then you have the hard graft to get them to possibly see things 'your way'.

Sedo and other aftermarket auction houses are not the greatest place for hacks, although they are a 'safe resting hole' for them whilst you look around for a buyer, but do not expect too much from them.

I have just put up the five hacks in my signature on eBay, a great place for people to see them, and eBay is visited by a great many non-domainers, and it is generally trusted by the public (and they are potential end-users). But even this is not enough in itself, this week is going to be helluva busy for me - sending emails, sending press releases, even making the odd telephone call here and there. It does not mean that success is guaranteed, but just like with other domains this is what has to be done in trying to sell hacks.

My greatest tip would be to move your hacks around, get them out there, and do not sell them cheap! Unlike non-hacked domains our hacks are truly unique, and this last week I have tried registering over 300 hacks only to find they had already been registered, some of them for years and still undeveloped, and the owners are not letting them go.

Good hacks are always been registered, especially for short hacks. If you didn't have any patience, you will obviously get the bad one. This especially reflects the type-in traffic in my sedo account.

We talked about this before but I sort of forgot, how much do you need to pay ebay for the exposure per month/per domain?? If I remember right you told me to only use Ebay.com...

I know you have had Fig.ht displayed at Ebay already a few month now, right? Any Response so far? How many watchers? Obviously your asking price is very high, but I totally agree that you should not sell great hacks for too cheap, $x.xxx is the right area currently for domain hack sales...

The high renewal price for .ht is a bummer though, waiting 10 years for a buyer would cost you 1k...

Ebay 30 day listing is the best, the price is obviously cheaper depending on the price you list and options chosen but you are looking at a few dollars a month.

Also make sure the 'whois' data is public on your domains, it may seem strange but people prefer to deal direct than through eBay, and yes that has happened with three of my domains, two discusions have fallen flat but the third I am still negotiating on. I have just put the domains up for auction and have started sending out press releases on the two State names already. I cannot say much more at the moment but I am sure you will understand why.

What I can say is that literally moments ago I registered 'hackdomain.name' and 'domainhack.name' with the sole intention of producing a site over the next few weeks especially dedicated to this niche, so if you would like to know when it goes live send me a PM and I will PM all that ask when it is up. Also it would help if people let me know which of the two domains they prefer?

Well ive been getting regular offers for my domain hacks..
there is one which i priced at $XXXX and the end user asked me
what a ridiculous price.. show him the stats of traffic to justify the price and he is simply helping me to cover renewals .. but its funny. He offered me $20 usd for that domain.i kinda laughed but of course u cant laugh at ur possible end users...but it cant even cover my renewals.. seriously.

Orcus, just a quick thought, have you contacted guiter manufacturers, large music shops, etc.? I doubt 'stru.ms' will let you retire but I can well imagine it will help pay some of lifes little requirements.

Failing the above think about a classified ad in a music publication, or even an ad online on similar.

Sedo is partaking in the auctioning of the domain for the .co registry (proceeds going to charity), the auction will run June 7th - 10th. I would advise everyone interested in domain hacks to get the champagne ready, this could be one hell of a boost.

Now I just have to ask myself should I withdraw my domain hack names from eBay auction until after this auction?

Life is suddenly looking very sweet indeed.

By the way I would think e.co would top $1million easily even in todays economic climate.

Though the question remains will it be really used as ECO or E dot CO??

It will only give a boost to domain hacks if it's used for an ECO project...

I'm guessing it will most likely be purchased by a domainer and promptly parked, probably with "eco" ads.
