the term in the uk is current account( which i own )
alliance & leicester bank bought up the com & co.uk 's in 97 while the others were sleeping. check them out.

arnie, if you talking about re-directs and affiliation, i agree with you, i could easily see bank of america buying up bankaccount.mobi, banking.mobi, checking.mobi etc and then re-directing to their mobile banking mobi

banking is a highly competitve business and banks are obssesive about branding, i can't see any bank using bankacount.mobi as it's wireless banking portal, if only from the satndpoint of security, not too mention branding

one way to approach this would be too think up logical _short_ versions of big bank names like chembk.mobi or citbk.mobi and then grab those because they won't be trademarked

i definitely think that short names are going to be really desireable
