![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yep. i've heard they're all gone. must admit one area of mobi i didn't bother with. obviously 8888 or 5050 etc are nice but even .com NNNN random are not really desirable price wise on average after all these years. wish everyone the best as i'm a mobi fan through & through. however got no regrets here, just wish i'd regged more LLL & some NNN |

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/283301-the-nnnn-mobi-countdown.html If that is the case then there are about 5000 NNNN.mobi worldwide to spread between domainers, the company(s) that were in the landrush, and end users. There is a preponderance of the better names in the smaller holder's hands, with many definitions of "better". And the main market, Asia, is mostly not yet aware of these domains. An interesting situation.

![]() ![]() | I had about 4 in my cart last week at godaddy but didn't pull the trigger. I'm guessing the average ones will be worth xx to low xxx for a while, but couldn't see enough reason to reg some - even NNNN.com's can be had for a reasonable price still. For now they are more like collector's items that are scarce, instead of word combinations that people search for and might type in. The only use I can see them having is the odd chinese website, or used as a personal domain for a mobile - like a telephone number. At any rate, they are all worth more than reg fee now guaranteed. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Confirmed. Re-scan. All regged. Numerous regged by private registration (Domain by Proxy) which is listed as Scottsdale AZ address, a GoDaddy account (an insider). Someone has deep pockets. |

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=283301 i remain a naysayer on NNNN.mobi's because despite circa's arguments to the contrary, i think they are going to be a tough address to make memorable ... i agree that they are very easy to dial however but heck, there are 100,000 NNNNN, is the extra digit, that much of a big deal, if they start disappearing this fast and we see the whois say "usps" we'll know what's up !! i am going out on a limb here but i wonder if these have all been regged for some specific business or corporate purpose ? catalogs, part numbers, franchises, truck fleets, betting, gambling ?? i can't think of what that would be, but to have them all disappear so fast ....

????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=283301 Where would numbers be more applicable and more likely to be used? Also, If you have a business and a website, you can use the number to point to you? Why not use this as your mobile phone number (if that is possible) instead of the 10 digit number +1 for long distance? I think in time that will be very likely. And like everything else, time is almost a non factor with the rapidness of things being rushed to market. I'm still quite impressed with the new phones and gadgets I saw in another post that had numbers but no english alphabet...chinese, japanese, and korean characters. Not sure if this will be a trend. But let's face it. In a country of more than 2 billion people, I think you give China what they want. If the majority speak Chinese, you give them Chinese characters on their cell phone. Afterall, we are talking about a population of nearly 9-10 times the US population so I think we need to start thinking globally. That is why I think the numbers are a good choice. Even what we think in terms of numbers equating to words will have a whole different meaning in another language but numbers will remain constant. By the way, a big reason most of the numbers starting with and containing the number 4 were left? From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_lucky_numbers#Four Number 4 (四; accounting 肆; pinyin si4) is considered an unlucky number in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cultures because it sounds like the word "death" (死 pinyin si3). Due to that, many numbered product lines skip the "4": e.g. Nokia cell phones (there is no series beginning with a 4), Palm PDAs, the Leisure Suit Larry games, Canon PowerShot G's series (after G3 goes G5), etc. In East Asian, some buildings do not have a 4th floor. (Compare with the American practice of some buildings not having a 13th floor because 13 is considered unlucky.) In Hong Kong, some high-rise residential buildings miss ALL floor numbers with "4", e.g. 4, 14, 24, 34 and all 40-49 floors. As a result, a building with 50th as the highest floor may actually have 36. Number 14 is considered to be one of the unluckiest numbers in Chinese culture. Although 14 is usually said as "shi si," which sounds like "ten die", it can also be said as "yi si" or "yao si", literally "one four". Thus, 14 can also be said as "yao si," literally "one four," but it also means "want to die" (要死 pinyin yao4 si3). In Cantonese, 14 sounds like "sap6 sei3", which sounds like "sat6 sei2" meaning "certainly die" (實死).

![]() ![]() ![]() | circa you are nothing if not persistent and your arguments are persuasive and reasonable i absolutely agree that a 4 digit number website is easy to enter (as is a 5 and even a 6 digit number) also, probably just about every 4 digit number(all 9999 of them) has meaning for somebody somewhere so let me be clear, i see the value of NNNN.mobi my trouble lies in the issue of how the average web site who owns the average number (4512 - 6920 -6487 -3291 etc etc) is going to make that stick in the head of the average north american / first world english speaking person ?? here i am showing my bias, i know nothing about china and i don't have the time or interest to learn their ways and their market, i only think of what i know at the end of the day, the best website is the one people remember (and hopefully visit) and i want to know how the NNNN.mobi guys are going to sell their product (i.e. make it memorable) ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=283301 i am _not _ arguing the value of NNNN.mobi, i can certainly see it as could the guy who spent 14K today to buy it up !~! |
