Congrates.....soda

I think the point being made here, is that their are some heavy hitters, betting mobi will be the mobile domain of choice....

If this is the case, then many here will make very nice coin...

Yes, my take is with the new Nevada legislation, ( the first really in this country) allowing Casino owners in Nevada to do online gamling bets will turn the mobi gambling extensioins into pure gold.

If this sale is legit or not, that new law will catapult any decent .mobi gambling names to high sales.

Its really about the market. The market for these names is heating up fast.
Good, now go and bid on my poker name everybody!

Thanks for confirmation. Congrats again to saltysoda, well done for holding out for the big one! Some here would have taken around $5k for it! LOL

Can you elaborate on this "new Nevada legislation" for "online gambling bets" as I can't find anything on it.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=281373

Only thing I can find is covering "mobile devices" that are distributed by the casino for use only around the casino. Nothing about "online" or "Mobile" in a way that would impact .mobi or any other online gambling in the US.

Would appreciate a link.

There will always be sceptics on some sales no matter what the extension (I had it with .co.in), down to disbelief , competitior(s), simple jealousy or other reasons.

.mobi for some reason has attracted more than it's fair share of comments but equally has proved itself beyond doubt , not that it may necessarily be "the" way to access the mobile internet but certainly as an investment whether it be short term or ongoing.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=281373

A wonderful sale, along with the other many sale, - and that is from somebody who was a .mobi sceptic (actually somehow I now have over 40!) but I have no problem in accepting I was wrong, unlike some others I see on the various forums.

I cant imagine $xxx, xxx in my hand for a domain sale in which I bought the domain for say $30.00

Unreal yet inspiring, and I will continue to work hard.

That said, Congrats on the sale. That is just awe$ome!!

I can see many .mobi names hitting $xxx, xxx figures because the extension has valid mobile draw. Sportsbook.com is most likely the buyer and for them..it's worth it. They are the ultimate end-user buyer. This went for top-dollar and it's most likely not intended for resale. This is HOW to domain...selling to end-users should be the goal of any domainer. The stuff we pass around on this site is poppycock compared to what end-users buy and spend on Sedo or Moniker. Moniker imho does an amazing job at finding end-user buyers. I have a feeling they may be involved in the sale.

Sportsbook.mobi hmm...great job and congrats again.

btw...can someone wipe this egg off my face!

Absolutely incredible. I must admit a bit of envy that this name was not mine, but I don't think I'm alone there

If it is sportsbook.com that purchased this name, I hope they have plans to develope the .mobi and put some advertising dollars behind it. That would be tops!

The following quote makes no sense to me... and is a bit ridiculous:

It certainly would have been if id been the owner. A countered mid $$$$ offer and id be I mean, lets be honest, who wouldnt have bailed at $5k with the risk that buyer subsequently got cold feet if pushed further.

I understand holding out for $$$,$$$ if the domain had a proven track record and good natural traffic, like a juicy single word .com. But a domain with no traffic and no certain future...???

To say im flabbergasted would be an understatement..
"I'm sure..."
"...if I'd been the owner..."
"Who wouldn't have bailed..."

Are you serious? Why should we care and what makes you assume that because you would have sold it cheap, other domainers would have made the same mistake. LOL. Thank goodness you don't broker domains for me. Buyers get cold feet all the time... it I believe one of my domains is worth more than their offer... then of course I will keep pushing them further or pushing them away. It's all about the art of selling & negotiating. Belief in your product/price and not caving immediately. Perhaps SportsBook.mobi was priced firmly at $200K+ and the counter was $100K+... the seller said more details will be revealed later... perhaps we're all just waiting for DNJ to autheticate the sale and inform us Tuesday. Time will tell.

and what's wrong with a domainer being proud of selling his name and sharing his success story with his peers? I'd be shocked if anyone else will share more info after reading this thread... Perhaps it is too hard for some domainers to believe a domain can sell for $XXX,XXX until they've done it themselves.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=281373

congrats to the seller... and don't let the negativity get you down. I hope you continue to share more details about this domain and others deals in the future. Good luck with Sweepstakes.mobi - seems like you have another winner there.
