There is no permanent SERP. For particular query it all depends on which Google servers are responding, what are browser and ISP settings of searcher, also geotargeting. There are continuous changes in competitors onpage and offpage factors, someone changes hosting provider, someone gets and someone looses valuable backlink, adds content on their pages or makes other changes. Considering current updates is just much faster today than it was years ago. Google also updates somewhat their semantics and ranking formulas, they often do some tests for changes in development. Are you sure that none of competitors above and below your position hasn`t changed anything? I have impression for example that last time many sites that are "technically" poorly optimized have gained much better SERP compared to "well optimized" competitors.
