Dated views, people use the internet for all manner of things, buying products, using financial services, porn, gambling...and did I say buying products? There is no "what it is supposed to be", the Internet it is what it is...women aren't supposed to wear dresses which show their knees either, that is what some people said in 1930. Men were supposed to wear a bow tie and top hat when going to church. The world has adapted and changed since then.

The tech types look back at the "good ole days of 1994" times which suited them, but which weren't really weren't that good because nobody was actually making a profit.

The average guy on the street uses these pages. Just look at what CTR's are like on high quality domains of the ilk that Kevin Ham owns. 60-70%+, obviously people people are finding those sites useful even though the "I love Linux" types wouldn't go near them.
