That is not actually true. There are transcoding features built into .mobi that are not built into .com. Right now Vodaphone UK and Sprint PCS in the US are advising .com site owners to get on their whitelist or create a second m.something.com or something.com/wap site to be seen on a phone, or to use a .mobi. I have this confirmed by a mobile advertising company and posted this under another thread.
