| China likes to throw its weight around, but with the rapid economic expansion and prosperity, it's unlikely it'd want to change any of that by getting involved in more conflict. Russia likes to do the same to try and bring back its pride and dignity, and to show the world that they're still a major player.
Iran would have been an interesting issue, with the US unable to realistically (nor have the interest, ultimately) to take it on militarily. But with nukes in Pakistan, bin Laden in the neighborhood, angry citizens with anti-government sentiments, and an extremely volatile political environment, there's your real wild card.
