webecri,

First of all, welcome to NamePros. We are happy you found us.

This would be a great sale, and you should have no regrets.

I'm always hesitant (even superstitious) about announcing a "sale" based on an accepted offer, before the money is in escrow. I've seen too many buyers back out before the transaction was finished. Here's hoping the deal goes thru for you, speedy with no hassles!

Intresting I must say, $33,000 US is an amazing offer compared to what you bought it for. But could you have got more, sure. But you could have maybe also lost some too. I would say, take the $33,000 and buy more.

Welcome to Namepros and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Pay the taxes on it? Would you have to pay tax on it. Unless you are doing this as a business. What if you owned a domain name and decided to sell it. You did not buy and sell names you just had one you sold, like selling your car or your rolex watch.

of course you have to pay taxes on your profits from selling domain names just like you would if you sold a house or stocks. It doesnt matter if you are doing it as a business or not.

Congratulations Webecri! I saw that you have a bunch of other premium names too.

One question to all: Isn't it illegal to do online gambling now? If it is so, should gambling domains lose their values?
I don't know a whole lot about gambling so please bear with me.

My opinion --- no reason for seller's remorse --- it was a good biz deal --- sure, there is a real good possibility its valuation would increase in time --- but $30 K is a very nice ROI -- congratulations! and don't look ---

lol...any money you make is taxable...and yes if you make a PROFIT on selling your car you owe tax...you can sell your watch but if it made a profit , yes you should pay taxes...sucks hugh? try owning your own business ...but I digress

Very nice sale, I wouldn't bother reinvesting the money in other domains unless they really are gems and you can make an instant profit.

sportsbook.mobi

hello,
Your sale of gamble.mobi was way too low.You may be have been listening to those who are preaching that dotmobi would fail.I say to these people are living in a false world.
I sold sportsbook.mobi and very happy with the sale.
Within the coming week or 2 weeks watch out for the release figure of how much sportsbook.mobi sold for?
I do have other domain names .
I do have strong hope on the above names. To those of you selling your.mobi far below it's value, this might come back and haunt you within the shortest possible time.
I believe .mobi is going to be sucessful .
thanks.

I think you sold it at the perfect time. .mobi feels rather hyped up to me at this time due to some current sales, but it could nose dive like .eu who knows. It certainly getting huge numbers for such a new extension.

hehe

I have lottory.mobi. In my mind, by development, it will not worse than "lottery.mobi"

"Gamble" is not a good habit, however, congraduation both to the seller and buyer. It is a good deal.

Nah, they be a smart group, they will continue to hype it until the hype becomes true (and if you convince enough people of something, it _becomes_ true, ask the church).

OMG did I really say that on Namepros? Oops

Hi webecri,
Very good price for your premium name! Congratulations.

Exactly my thought was like yours when I sold attorney.mobi for 11966 GBP. Later I realized that the price was not bad.

Now I am happy with that sale, and invested a part of the sale amount in nearly 50 mobi names.

webcri, I advise that you have the Gamble.mobi appraised by all - TDNAM/ GoDaddy, AfterNic & Sedo - and see what they evaluate. Then decide. I don't think that Sedo can force you to sell the domain - you can always get out of the contract.

Gambling domains take a bit hit in value...
http://www.circleid.com/posts/top_do..._stories_2006/

Quote:
6. Change in markets for gambling and adult domains - Thuuuud! Did you hear that? That’s the value of gambling and adult domain names. Some may disagree, but the value of these domains took a hit this year. A couple things happened. First, the U.S. cracked down on internet gambling. This sent shivers through the industry. Advertising providers such as Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) and Yahoo (YHOO) stopped advertising gambling sites many years ago after being pressured by the feds. With recent arrests of internet gambling heavyweights you can expect the value of online gambling domains to plummet. Keep in mind the U.S. is the biggest market for online gambling. As for adult domains, many of the big players in the industry want nothing to do with them. Investors in these companies don’t want to be associated with adult entertainment. Example: before being acquired by Name Media, Afternic cut all adult domains out of its listings.
