Not all datafeeds require a fee to activate. There's no fee at Shareasale. CJ waives the fee if your sales are above a certain amount. If you are familiar with web services, you can also get product feeds through their SOAP interface - I tried that for a while but as of several months ago there were "issues" with it so I dumped it and went back to datafeeds.

If you just want to display a few products, some merchants at CJ have product links (with images). On Linkshare, you can build individual product links for many merchants also. Individual links are the easiest to do and don't take any more technical ability than posting a banner, but they're a pain to maintain. You have to keep checking and updating for out-of-stock items, price changes ...
