So I guess when I sold these 36 for $290 I should have gone and had my head examined.

At least I kept some good LLL.us names...now I don't think I ever want to sell them.

I am now officially a member of the LLL.us club. I just won VXE.us from a fellow NPer on eBay for $99. I saw FSJ.us sold for $160 on Afternic Bazaar and thought I might as well place a bid for VXE and see if I could get it.

I'm anxious to see what happens to the LLL.us market in the coming months.

The market has really cooled off lately. The fact you got VXE.us for only $99 is a testament to that. I'd expect prices to surge again in April, but stay steady between now and then.

All the non-mobi domain markets are cooling. There is so much attention and money going into .mobi that the other extensions are suffering. Personally I been grabbing some great bargains in .net and .com because of it.

im very much awaiting 3characters monthly price update!

If you think .us is a speculative play, .mobi is pure gambling. I predict .mobi will turn out to be nothing but a fad. Mobile is obviously huge, but by the time it catches on and everyone is using it, the domain won't even matter. There is no benefit to a .mobi over any other domain.

On a positive note I'm starting to see ads for popular zip code sites like 90210.us etc. all over the Internet ... that zip code directory project may have some legs after all. Saw one on youtube today in fact. And 90210.us makes a heck of a lot more sense than 90210.mobi no matter how you slice it.

I think in general all of the domain markets always seem to cool off during January and part of February, as people try to pay off their holiday debts and create an attack plan for 2007. I agree with you that the LLL.us hype will start up again, and start surging again sometime this spring.

Why the blatant troll-bait? This has nothing to do with domains and linking the value of LLL.us to the war is ridiculous. The irony with your post is that it is the US economy's strength that holds .US domains back. US companies were the early adopters of the internet and the average person looking for a US company will either search or type in the dot COM - there is little awareness of .US.

If the awareness grows so will .US domain value, it's that simple. If it doesn't then it's just another investment that didn't work out, nobody should have anything but investment money they can afford to lose in anything as speculative as non .COM domains anyway...

"troll-bait" removed.

That being said, this is the time of year that the larger "drops" have traditionally happened with .us, and I think that some of the larger reseller buyers have been in a "hold" pattern waiting to see what they can get on the tdnam aftermarket or just straight-up drops. March/April will probably bring renewed interest as the excitement picks back up as .us moves back into the news a bit, and .mobi hits the inevitable slight trough.
All,
-Allan

I agree that a bad economy will negatively affect domains, I guess what I don't agree with is that a bad US economy will affect LLL.us exclusively, or .us domains exclusively.

I think you are entitled to your opinion, and I agree it should not be censored.

I picked up a couple of scraps on drops this week (RYL and FPQ), but the last couple of months have been real slow. Have many been coming up at TDNAM? I haven't been checking...

Got HTY.us for $110 at TDNAM last week. TDNAM is no longer a consistent source for cheap LLL.us drops. However, doing my saved LLL.us search on there right now yields this, indicating there is the occasional deal on there:

mnm.us 0 bids $100 5D 5H
pyb.us 1 bid $10 9D 6H
qpi.us 1 bid $10 9D 6H

Been very quiet - very few dropping names, most holders holding, no new "would be holders" pushing up the prices to convince current holders otherwise. Yawn...

Good news is that there are two LLL.us domains in the Traffic Live Auction: Ass.us and POW.us. It will be interesting to see what they will bring in as well as the other LLL.us domains in the silent auction.

Be ready for a significant price jump with LLL.us domains in April.
