looks like samsung and cingular as being investors were privy to a number of high value/reserved names, probably the deal for financing, and promoting the new ext. this is a great sign for .mobi owners as cingular and samsungs reach is enormous.

I planned on registering iPhone, iMusic, iSports, idownloads, iMp3s. But thought to myself "who would ever want that No one would ever type in an I?" If I registered them I'd probably get a pretty penny from samsung.

But, I'm sure they have much larger promotion plans for those names than I would have so it keeps me sane thinking that they are helping Mobi as a whole. Eventually that'll pay off for my other mobi names being typed in.

OK guys. So a lot of big companies have felt the need to protect their brands on this. It is lot less hassle just registering than going through UDRP.

Lets do some case studies here, using some of the most touted names.

Google.Mobi is registered and working. It directs you to a Google page that tells you how to browse the Internet using your mobile. No further mention of dot mobi, but it does explain that you need to type in Google.com and the system will do the rest!

Nokia.mobi is registered and working. If you type it from your PC, it tells you it cannot recognise which phone you are using. Hopefully if you do it from your mobile it will take you to the Mobile friendly pages, but they are not dot Mobi are they?
