Not the network, nothing is unstable.

The attackers had a funny idea to attack the mysql port, however these newbies forgot to use a proxy so I called up the abuse department for their IP (located in US), showed the logs, and their routers/modems have been disabled for 24 hours. Also, the ips have been blocked from our server.

If your site was down, it is a good chance it was using mysql as the server itself really wasn't down. We had some trouble with apache however it was back up within an hour.
