My girlfriend is being blackmailed via yahoo IM! and MySpace

Hi, about 4 hours ago my girlfriend called me saying there was an idiot that took over her Yahoo! Messenger ID and MySpace profile. She said the guy contacted her with the ID kriminal911 on her alternate ID threatning her to upload photoshoped pictures of her that show her in embarassing posinitions and change her details on myspace. He also threatened to swear at her friends on Yahoo!, and this would also be a big problem as most of them consider her ID legit. I tryied to add this guy on my own messenger list but he rejected my request. Now maybe the funniest (or scaryest) thing in this whole thing is that the son of a ... asks for naked pictures with her in exchange for her accounts back. I gave my girlfriend some photoshoped pics to send him but he immediately knew they were fake ( I`m not very good at editing a picture in photoshop REALLY that fast)...he said he would post upload the pictures tommorow and swear at her friends if he doesen`t get his pictures.

I don`t know if this guy is making fun of her or he is really mentally diseased but my girl friend really cares about her yahoo and myspace accounts and is scared of what this psycho might put there. If it was me I probably didn`t care, made some other id and forget this...but she doesen`t want to do this.
And also she doesen`t want to send the psycho naked pictures of herself either....it`s kinda funny, as she would be willing to even pay for her accounts but not give images of herself naked ad even if she would be willing to do that i wouldn`t let her because god knows on what pornsite they might end up on (he even specified he wanted 12 pictures).

I`d post the conversation between them but it contains very strong language and i really don`t have the time to remove all those words.

Oh and just to keep this on-topic Keep away from the guy with the id kriminal 911 hes is a psycho!

What a Creep.! I would have surely Crashed his PC by Now.! Well the NamePros members have provided good Answers to your Problem, Hope that helps you out. In my opinion talking to Friends and Informing them would be the right thing too, because Customer Cares hardly respond to you, unless you're a Paid member.

Lorenzo, I think proxy doesnt work when your chatting on messengers and transfering files or viewing cams

.... this is too simple. Listen bro, Put some stupid pics in the .zip or .rar file and keylog it. You send it to him via yahoo, he opens it and next time he logs yahoo or her myspace, you'll have the login info.

Ok I went to the police with my girlfriend today told them about what`s happening, they came over to her place collected all the screenshots and im.txt files on a cd, then told us they would look into it. Also i don`t know if hes a known person as I live in romania and the guy spoke with my girlfriend in english...it might be a trick but i don`t know...anyway after the police left i called yahoo and after about half an hours arguing with them we finaly came to an agreement: they would suspend the account until they would figure out what`s going on. Ten minutes later...disaster - my girlfriends myspace profile was made to look like she was some crazy satanist and put fake pictures of her in latex...damn...he hasn`t contacted her again yet so i can try the ip trick, but this is getting really annoing. She told some of her friends about the incident, but she has like 500 friends on myspace including relatives from austria and US which she didn`t manage to call yet. I hope this guy isn`t from romania because i would beat him to death!

ok latest problem: she called me to tell me he contacted her and told me that ipconfig was showing her lots of ip adresses even though she has a im window only opened with him. She also said he would revert the damage if he got his pictures...dirty bastard

Finnaly i managed to trace the idiot! I located his ip, ISP, called, they gave me his info and i paid him a visit...guess what: he was 14 years old!!! LOL i wanted to kill the idiot but his parents were home. I didn`t tell them but i had a little talk with him telling him to quit doing this or i`ll beat the sh... out of him. I can`t belive i went into so much trouble for a 14 years old! When i told her she couldn`t belive it...she thought i was joking...i asked her if she knew him and she said no. Probably he`s seen her myspace profile. I wanted to tell his parents but he started crying in front of me lol. He actually started crying when i told him i sent a complaint to the police but when i told him i`m going to tell his parents he fell on his knees begging me not to do so. I will retract my complain tommorrow. Anyway at least i know the idiot is not a public threat. Thanks for the support. Who would have thought it was a 14 years old boy living a couple of streets away from me...the net these days

Good to see that you got it figured out Hell-Knight. But I would have told his parents nonetheless. Hacking and blackmailing is not something any teenager would do, it's teenagers w/ problems. But I understand, him crying at your feet ... it can be tough.

yep he was living a couple of streets away...right under my nose...pretty smart from him to speak in english. As for the ISPs i had to admit i didn`t call them for the info, I went over to their HQ, bribed the operator 50 bucks and got my info in 2 mins (the ISP is a small local company)

As I guessed before it was a local, its almost always local.

But you should tell, at least his parents so he understands there is a consequence. If he when he is only 14 year old, is doing this, and he dont get punished for it, when he grows up he will do a lot more.

And who knows, maybe he has done this to others too, who didnt have the oppurtunity as you did, to find him, and maybe there is some girls around there is getting blackmailed by this creeep.

So rethink about telling his parents, maybe you will help other girls, by telling his parents, who knows?

Trust me when I say you made my day, this kind of things get me so mad. I would beat the ass of him, take his computer from him, get him to beg and say sorry to my girlfriend every single day, until he understood that what he was doing was not right, first then I would give his computer back.

$50 Did the trick ? They gave you the print out of who and when used that IP ? I wish it would be that easy in US.

Yep just like that and it wasn`t even $50, when i mean 50 bucks i meant 50 lei which is about $20. Yeah and his parents already know, because when i told the police officer i wanted to retract my complain he asked me if i solved the problem, and i told him it was a 14 years old and he said the parents and school teachers must know about this because he will most likely do this again because he got away so easy. So i went with the police officer to his home and i told his parents who were shocked...they said they thought their kid was spending so much time on the computer playing games, not blackmailing people asking them for porn pictures.
So now his father said he will take away his computer and watch him more strictly and promised us it will never happen again. In the end the police officer decided to not tell the school principal because he thinks his parents took the right measures. He also warned them that next time he will have a file at the police and fine them with up to $1200
