Broadcast Design Companies Using .TV

While checking out some design companies I came across a directory that had a list of approx 30 for Broadcast Design Companies.

6 of them are using .TV which is a pretty good percentage.

These are the premium/top broadcast design companies in the world and have a pretty impressive client list between them:

MTV, Audi, Adidas, Microsoft, VH1, Nike, CBS, Hyundai, Burger King, NFL, AT&T, Coca Cola, Fox, ESPN, Honda, Mastercard, Shell, McDonalds, Miller, Starbucks, VW, Warners, Nickelodeon, etc, etc.

Noticed that bodog.tv no longer works. Instead they changed the address to http://tv.bodoglife.net/

that was a silly move- the new address is a net, and even harder to remember- but, who is to say what silly moves companies make.

Overlay.TV Raised $4.6 million.

Overlay.tv is an upcoming video network that lets you add hyperlinks and image overlays to video content in order to monetize the clips. The Overlay technology and network won’t be launched until Valentine’s Day, but the service is getting some early press thanks to its funding news. $4.6 million in Series A financing has been provided by Celtic House Venture Partners, EdgeStone Capital Partners and Tech Capital Partners.

Now, you’re seeing the word “overlay” being used in the same sentence with “video” and “ad.” At first blush this may sound like another questionably effective tool for the purpose of getting viewers to see your ads, or for video distributors to earn some extra cash from their content. But take a closer look at what Overlay does, and you’ll see that there are a couple of things going on............

Interesting find. Like Mercedes-Benz, PWC has both the .com and .tv extension. Like Benz, they are using the .tv extension as their creative outlet.

This is a good sign for the tld as it signals to me that more and more big corporates are seeing dot TV as an extension of their web selves, not as something they should be using as their main web presence. That could mean more big players will have both .com and .tv sites operating in parallel. It also means that dot TV doesn't have to compete with dot Com - that there's room for both to operate side by side.

If this becomes a trend then we should see the value of dot TV domains start to rise.

Excellent find. Very promising when you see creative groups like this taking dot TV up.
