$15k challenge - Someone shows us how he is making 15k in 30 days in his blog

Every second Friday of the month a group of my so called friends get together for a ‘marketing (excuse to drink and bullshit) meeting’… you know, the kind of stuff normal people do without the profit angle (ah for the good old days)

… anyway. .. as the evening went on we started discussing what would we do differently if we had to start all over again…

Now, this is where it all started to go downhill… apparently (and I beg to differ) I came out with the following smart-ass comment… ‘If I had to start all over again then I could easily make ten grand within a month‘… well that was it… fate sealed.

And even if I disagree, and don’t remember uttering those words, my ‘good friends’ decided that I should bend over and reach for the soap…

… and that’s how the challenge started… (actually, I spent the next hour or so trying to get out of it, but the Absinthe and my friends eventually wore me down) …
The Rules

* I have 30 days to earn $15,000 (I initially said £10,000 which is around $18,000 but they were nice and rounded down)
* Starting capital is $150
* No loans, or any credit financing. Anything purchased on credit cards will be deducted from the allowed amount.
* No use of any existing software, scripts, or products that I own. With the exception of standard tools such as an HTML editor, graphics apps, FTP etc.
* The $15,000 is net profit not gross income.
* It has to be in a non-internet marketing niche.
* All income has to be derived from the Internet and can’t come from the sale of any site or business that I create.
* No existing mailing lists may be used, and I can’t use any existing sites I own or friends/friends lists to promote the business.

The Forfeit

A lot of time that evening was spent discussing what the forfeit should be if I lost the challenge. The current ideas are making me run around in a pink leather thong at some popular city night spot, or as suggested by Jason ‘Profit’ Moffit (thanks) … walk into McDonald ’s, wait in line, and order a number 4 all while in the comfort of my Fruit Of The Looms.

All of this of course will be caught on camera for YouTube to archive for eternity.

The plus side to this though is that if I actually make the $15k, then my friends have to do the forfeit instead :) …
About Me

I am an Internet Marketer and have been working online for just over six years. I mainly sell niche products (both physical and info), but over that time I have also created quite a collection of profitable content sites.

I have never had a million dollar day in the John Reese sense, or a billion dollar day like Frank Kern (I’m sure he said it was that ;), but a few months ago my business partner and I sold a chunk of our niche sites for just under $3m. (credit where credit is due, we would have never made as much if it wasn’t for some excellent advice from the Yoda of niche marketing… Ed Dale… and some nifty ninja tricks learnt from Frank).

I am also married, have a body like a temple, and dine with royalty in my castle most weekends. (ok, one of those three is true)

I was following his progress for some time now, and I've gotta say :), I'm learning a ton from this guy. Too bad I can't code.

$15k.... The blog receives a huge amount of traffic right now. So he can (if he decides to) put adverts on. Right now he has a few plugs to affiliate programs so that should earn him some revenue aswell.

I've been tracking his progress. His apporach is sound; however, I don't believe he will make it in 30 days. If he had 60 he certainly would make it.

Not everyone could pull this off. Dan has a magic blend of skillz including business savvy, internet marketing experience, web design / db / php know-how, and a wicked sense of humor. He also doesn't have a job he must go to on Monday morning.

I wish him luck. He'll need it.

Grab a book and learn. 'Can't' is a word reserved for primates. :hehe:

haha, I tried that :). I even hired someone to give me 1 hour lessons. Never worked for me. I think I'll just stick to getting other people to do it for me :p.

hey thats real interesting he says hes giving all the profits to one person who signs up interesting

deadmoon 09-23-2006 04:59 AM

I bet he has another "idea" to actually make himself some money though. Not sure how though. Otherwise, waste of a month for him really.

If he is giving away the profit to get people to sign up, then is he really making a profit? His friends are being very generous with the terms of the bet if they allow this..

I've been watching his progress aswell. Last time I checked he successfully made over 10k. Good on him. He's proved to me that all these claims of making nice sums of money online with little money involved (he had $150 to spend for this challenge) is possible.

Viral marketing at best! :alien:

He made a good point at offering the service at a high price first, then a lower price later. His makes it look better for the users as they think they are getting a better deal..
I learned about this method in marketing
