Adam "You should haves" and "you could haves" are not helpful suggestions, but thanks for your input, I guess. If it were possible for me to reload Windows right now, I would have.

Anthony: Good thoughts, but I have no other system in the house at present. I may have soon, and if so, will try your suggestion.

Pablo: None of those programs you listed are on my system, and I have no competing programs open. As far as peak times, the slow loading happens no matter what time of day it is.

Again, thank you all for taking the time to try and help. I will be reloading Windows as soon as I can and post the results in case anyone's still interested.

never seems to do anything or word but might help

I hope you were able to find a solution for this by now. I can't imagine how annoying it is with slow loading PHP sites all the time!
