I don't know if people will think of 'community center' or 'chamber of commerce' when hearing .cc , which is needed to have a true value IMHO. Whereas in case of .TV and .FM it comes spontaneously, for .CC people will not get it immediately. ????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=222403 You could see it as 'country code' of course, register stuff like us.cc, uk.cc, de.cc, eu.cc, ... and try to sell subdomains like CentralNIC does with uk.com and such. | ||||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It doesn't serve much purpose to give meaning to the .CC extension, in my opinion. Some extensions do have a relevant meaning, of course, such as .TV, which we immediately associate with television. And most of us do tend to associate .NET with some kind of network or community function, just as .ORG implies that we're dealing with a non-profit organization. However, when it comes to .COM (or .CC), who cares what it was originally meant to indicate? The .com extension is now being used for every imaginable purpose! Or are we really thinking 'namepros.commercial', while typing namepros.com into our browsers?! I know I'm not! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Most people (in the USA) have heard of .cc - it was heavily promoted with radio ads etc during the "dot com boom" when they first became available for anyone to register. That doesn't seem to help helped their value too much, but does give them a slight mindshare advantage over other ccTLDs being marketed as global. |
