I think we’ll know for sure by the Holidays but obviously this is something that, if done properly could be a major player in this Billion dollar market. And, this doesn’t have to play music better than an iPod, it would simply have to offer a cool alternative, just as the other J Allard lead project “Xbox” did.

Also, remember that this is a market that Microsoft felt it needed to head into the future and with billions of surplus funds available and a large portion apparently heading toward this project it would have to be one of Redmond’s biggest ever bombs to not make a splash come December.

Sure it could be relevant. Since these will be equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities, it’s very possible that soon they will be able to communicate Zune to Zune or “Comzunicate” (oh, now I’ve done it!), and a ring tone might not be out of the question.

Yeah that's true, that is going to be more main stream, Wi-Fi integrated in Cell Phones so this could indeed be very plausible
I even totally forgot about a recent article i had read about Wi-Fi and the thread i posted.

If it has Wi-Fi it's all good

zunelive.com is registered to some guy named Jack....it's under the msft.net DNS, but uses internationaladmin as the admin (don't go to internationaladmin.com unless you want pop-ups like crazy). Created around 2-3 weeks ago (May 24) and registered for two years.

The Zune.com registry was created in 1998, but just updated on July 3 for three years...with hidden info. The DNS is to sistelcom.com.
