Still, they have 6,000 members just on their forum and if they own everyone's name that is hosting with them there is still fraud going on.

I'm glad your issue is resolved, but that company needs to change their business practice and give their customers an option if they don't want to actually administer the name. If they don't want to be bothered with changing name servers or care that the domain isn't in their name thats one thing, but they should notify everyone and not be so shifty.

Congrats for having won the battle! Still.. we haven't won the war.

I guess they made a special exception in your case ("Sorry for the 'misunderstanding'", even though they flat out said NO). I'm sticking with big companies when regging my domains from now on.

I'd like to believe our little thread and "push" expedition helped; even if it was simply your flowery vernacular that pushed him over the edge

Congrats it is people like this that tarnish the industry. Only a handful of registrars worth doing business with.

DAMNIT!! I made the mistake of hosting with these f*cktards! I've bought my domain name, set up a phpbb forum, and now I want to install an extra script. But.. I can't use this script because with HOSTULTRA, you can't use practically ALL of the php functions, like fsockopen (which is what I really need), so now I want to change hosts to some of the WAY WAY better hosting companies out there, but I can't take my domain with me because of hostultras bullsh*t!!! Now I need to buy a NEW domain, make a NEW logo, AND tell all my forum members that they need to use the new domain. Their support takes a few days to reply and when they do the twat who answers can barely speak ENGLISH, and he will only reply to your support ticket once with his sh*tass one-sentance answers, then he'll just ignore you for a few more days.

Seriously I hope everyone at hostultra dies, and I wish I could sue them or something.

If it's not clearly stated in their TOS (that you'd be renting the domain that YOU registered, while they maintain the ownership) then they have enticed your business under false advertising, which is clearly illegal.

Copy the sales pitch, regardless of the TOS, if they promise you in the sales pitch that you can register and own a domain, without stating that there are alterations to this statement, to be read in the TOS, they are in a VERY grey zone.

Once you have your copies in place, let the registrant know that you are ready to submit your complaint to ICANN via your attorney (whether thats true or not - they don't have to know). At the same time, let them know that you just attracted 43k eyeballs with a negative post on a domainer forum (NP) and that you will make it your mission to repeat this post on ALL other forums.
As a possible way out, suggest that they correct the who-is record, and let you transfer the name out. Granted, this may be a total bluff, however, the domain itself is good enough to not just walk away from it. If all else fails, you can wait for the name to drop (hope that they LET it drop) and re-register at a reputable company.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=211032
Make sure you check whether you can drop/not renew the domain or if you're locked into a certain length of "renting".

In the end, you've tried nice, now its time to "introduce them to your little friend" (pun intended). All you have to lose is your "lease agreement" which, in then end, is worthless anyways.

Best of Luck and thanks for the heads up.

You've got to be serious.

This is a (*#(#@(* scam to the "T" and law enforcement needs to be banging on this guys door.

Why is this guys site / forum still active? he's no hosting company he's some kid running a forum from his bedroom cashing in on everyone's domain names removing any/all negative comments. That's not a true community, it's a front for a would-be business / hosting / domain support forum (if you even want to call it that).

He needs to be taken down FAST!! ILLEGAL .. ILLEGAL and ILLEGAL!

Well, good luck using legal means to shut down Hostultra. Seriously, just don't
do business with such parties next time.
