Discounted Registration Rates

This thread is intended to help 'newbies' save some money on their domain registrations.

The following are ways to get discounts at the listed registrars:

eNom:
Don't waste your time paying $29.95 direct, I know a few people that still do. Always go through a trusted reseller, like NamePros. A free account can be made and registrations are around $9.25
http://www.namepros.com/enomsignup.php

GoDaddy:
View the latest coupons by viewing the last few posts of http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/479933-godaddy.html

I have personally saved a few hundred with this thread. :yell:

Moniker:
Is a safe registrar to use and .com are generally $8.02.

Dynadot:
Is generally $9.25 but can be lowered to 7.75 if you plan to use more than $500. Deposit $500 to get this lowered pricing.
http://www.dynadot.com/company/prices_bulk.html

eBay:
Believe it or not, many resellers list a single domain registration on ebay for below market prices. There was times when I've seen registrations go for less than $6. Buyer beware though, make sure you check a seller's feedback before buying.

This thread has been updated to remove expired deals that have been previously posted. If you have anything that I should add, please send me a PM.

Thanks and good luck,
AzN

"Second off:
eNom
$8.95, although this is not cheap, it is better than the regular $29.95 price."

If you have an enom reseller account will you get a discount with the $29.95 club drop registration fee? Thanks!

I actually think you do - I went back and looked at my most recent clubdrop win, and it was $xx for the domain and $8.95 for the registration... You don't get a discount on the entering price of the domain, but I think you do get the advantage of the registration price decrease...

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong here - I'm usually at Snap/Pool where there isn't the same after-the-fact add-on.

Not impress with Moniker service

Hi,

Sorry but I have to say I am not impressed one bit with Moniker.

I sent email as stated to get fees changed at 6.95/domain...email bounced. I called support they told me to send another email and it would be done. 3 days now and still nothing. If this is pre-sale support I rather pay 7.99 at powerpipe never had any problems.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes, you get the lowered price of registration fee but auction prices are same...
eNom Billing sucks though... I sent check via 2 day mail. They receive and takes 10 days to process and I loses my auction on a domain... 8-X

That's really weird...
I am and will always be a Moniker fan boy.. they are fast, cheap and secure.
Only downside is the transfer method to another account.

You can try GD, their prices are really close.

Hi,

Called Moniker just now, said I sent an email 2 times and they still did not adjust my pricing. He told me to send it a 3rd time and that this time it should be done!!!!

LOL

Thanks but they are not the only ones around. Kinda of sucks to offer a deal for members of this forum and to make it such a hassel to get it activate.

Only reason I wanted Moniker anyways is to taste. Guess I will go with a more serious co. Pool.com has .10 tasting anyways and they refund you your deposit if you decide to close the tasting account vs moniker you only get a credit.

Just expressing my dissatisfaction with the service I got from Moniker. Doesn't mean they are bad but in my case they offer bad service.

Regards,

Marc

Yeah I'm having the same problem. I've sent 2 e-mails so far and haven't heard anything yet. I'll probably wait until the end of the week and then decide if i'll take my business else where.

Is there a better time to call or does it really matter?

Discounted Registrars

Hi,
There is some things you should watch for when considering a discount registrar. One of the most important is whether they are working directly or through some other firm. If you are chasing a hot just dropped domain name this could be critical for you. For instance for a while was using iPower since they were offering $3.95 com registrations. I thought it was strange when they told me I had the name registered, charged my account, and sent the comfirmation 6-12 hours later. Spoke to their support person who said they actually worked through Tucows and it took that long to get back the confirmation but I had the name. Not being satisfied with that answer I conducted a test with the next hot name I was chasing. I registered it with iPower, they told me I had the name, debited the account. Waited a half hour, went to godaddy and was able to register the same name. Whois confirmed the name was registered through godaddy.

There are a couple of other things you should consider but that will be another post.

Right now I have a domain site www.HotDotAuctions.com that features some domain auctions. Right now it features some ebay domain auctions. Take a look. If you are not a member of ebay join - its free you might actually snag a name you want for less than the registration fee. I'm going to put some of the information I've learned up there.

I also just purchased DomainNameFool.com that I'm planning on developing further in this direction. If you want to be put on an announcement list you can email me at [email protected]

All the best,
Ted Sudol

You have to add the ICANN fee to it. GoDaddy (oddly) doesn't include this in it's pricing...

All the other registrars do though.

Imagine if you went to your local shop and the cost of a Chocolate bar was only 50c. You go to the till and it rings up at 65c. You say it was priced as 50c, but the shopkeeper says "Oh, no, the extra 15c is the amount it costs me to buy it..."

Silly IMO, but it means GoDaddy can look cheaper than they are.

That's great that you have done that for us. I'm sure that everyone here appreciates it, not just the newbies.

If you come across anymore cheapies let us know for sure.

So is estdomains any good?

Cheap prices but I've never heard of them.

I also see comments on the net about estdomains being linked to spamming.

estdomains is an icann accredited registrar for whatever thats worth. As far as whether it is used by spammers or not I don't see how that affects legitimate users.

Spammers go for the cheapest prices, EstDomains have some of the cheapest. Plus, they're Russian (I think) ;)
