I love the background, the logo and the navigation. However, after that - everything is all over the place. Just needs to be organised a little more including spacing (mainly login form). As mentioned, the slogan would be better without the text effects.

There are also silly mistakes like missing line-breaks under "Newest Listings" and text overlapping borders on "Featured Site". Also lines where there shouldn't be lines. (Shoutbox and underneath "Forgot pass").

Personally, I'd do away with the shoutbox. It isn't needed and it just gives the "CMS" feel and you've got a forum anyway.

Hope it's useful

Good choice of colours, and decently done background. But what i dont like is the arrangement of the content. It's loose and doesnt look compact, it looks disarray.

I quite like the layout, but yes, the Shoutbox does put the line in the wrong place. I also think that the text where it says "Input Username..." underneath Login To Your Account should be smaller, IMO.

Same with the text size for the "Take A Look Around" Browse Categories text. And lastly, I don't really like the whole News Headlines thing. It makes it look like the sites going off-topic abit.

I think it'd look better without simply because, it's a site aimed a Free Advertising for Webmasters, not for Current News, no offense. Other than those, I think I might sign up myself!

The design is simple and looking great. The orange and black color combinations chosen by you brought a very good look to the site. Why don't you think of a logo also?

I'd like to see more of the page real estate being used for the content. Also I think the adsense placement might be better as a vertical placement.

I reckon the idea has loads of potential and could be a real magnet for webmasters...Good luck!!!!

Nice design, it looks good. One thing i wonder though is why you need a users first and last names, gender, location and age during signup? This could put some users off.

Hi,

I would like to mention a few things you can improve.
Overall I think the site is a bit restless, it looks busy...
- I would lower the orange top bar, so it aligns with your menu. Doing so, the menubar jumps out a little bit more.
- See if you can find a way to make the buttons in the menu flexible. Now 'Add your site' is too close to the edges.
- The horizontal dividers in the content area are of different size. So I presume the two items present ('NetCritique Home' & 'Just as things seemed to be going well') are of a different category? If not, and the two items are both 'news' try to make them look the same (this also applies on the alignment of the titles).
- The login box could use some eyecandy, make the username and password entry fields look like entry fields. Also take care of the alignment, the title, the entryfields and the checkbox (remember pass..) look randomly placed.
- Why isn't the header 'Newest listings' clickable? I would like to see all your listings. What are listings btw? Are these new websites netcritique has reviewed? If so, name it so (newest websites / newest reviews etc.)
- I would divide the landing page in three columns, separating the login box from the content area, this improves the overall look. Now the login box scrambles your landingpage.
- Your logo isn't clickable (and bringing me back to the homepage) on other pages than the landing page.

So overall, take a good look at the lay-out and consistency of your visual elements.
Try to 'calm down' the pages a little, you use lots of different styles next to each other, so it's harder to spot out the important items from the less important items.

good luck! and have fun reviewing!

Well, I like the color scheme of the background and top nav bar, really nice. The design is a bit plain though and in my browser (Safari) the members login box is a bit crowded in relation with the content in the middle section.

The shoutbox on the site seems to stick out a bit, that might be a good thing if you want it to grab attention but I think it should have a header of some sort in that specific table.

Overall, it's a good start, just needs a bit more work.

Good domain but....

Hi,
Checked out the site, and at first though I was on a (spiced up) parking page. No offence, but the template used looks really generic. I say go with something more uniform, with just a little less eye-candy.

Also, the 'Featured Site' should have a more prominent display, I feel. On the right hand side, and enlarged. And the login box could be a bit smaller, and on the left, to fill in the gap!

As with everything, it just needs a little work.

Poorly organised, the ads are poorly placed, and navigation is also poorly organised. Lots of it just looked like it was thrown there with no regard to the overall design implications or useability. Sorry dude.

No need to apologise, I'd indeed agree with you. This site, as it stands at the moment was my first foray into coding my own website.

So Ive now started the long process of remaking the website... And im looking forward to know what you think afterwards

There are a few things I noticed which are a bit off. Firstly, you have a star favicon and that star logo isn't anywhere on your site. Also, the domain is quite hard to spell. I had to cut and paste just to access it. Mind you, I am not the best speller. Other than that the design is okay. There is nothing really special to the site. I like the overall theme, but it lacks a unique logo and a footer. The layout of the text is pretty hard to follow as well. Some things are spaced less than others and the spacing is all over. Try to stylize everything to look the same (text wise). You have a great start.

The concept is awesome!

However, I do think the site needs to be further organized into something that flows better. Clear sections need to be made on the front page. I dislike seeing ads on the site prior to seeing content. Move the top google ads somewhere else. They distract from the content. That is great if you would like to earn money for a little bit; however, more ad clicks will come with greater content and longer time visists on the site.

Another pet peeve of mine is the inline frames.

Not so good. Remove shoutbox, remove ads, remove headlines, align things properly and focus on critique.

When viewing the site in firefox, your background repeats when scrolling down the page. (e.g the orange header is seen in the incorrect spot.)
