Traffic on my 1plus parked sites has been a little quiet lately so I decided to give the "evening" edition a try and see what kind of results I get. Unfortunately I didn't look at the sites before making the change, but now that I've looked at a few, I'm finding all the ads are completely unrelated to the site topics.
Did changing the layout throw things off for a bit or is their just a problem with adsense at this time?
And by the way, I'm getting some really interesting combinations of pictures and news stories on some of my sites.
Some of them just make you stop, think, scratch your head, and then go "Hhhhmmmm, well okay then..." before moving on.
All depends on your keywords (plus, as and when adsense bot comes by).. The adsense is manipulated (as per googles approved T&C's) using this piece of code.. (snippet taken from www.ive-been-injured.com)
So, theres no problem with the coding and, of course, I cant control the adsense... Others have had better success using Yahoo or CJ.com or Tradedoubler or Adbrite (ive heard theyre good)... So....play about with your ads, see what fits best, make a few custom codes for certain domains.. The choice is yours.. !
But I think the best key to all this is "patience".. The site doesnt generate an immediate parking page full of ads. Period... If users want this then namedrive is the place to be.. Over a longer period, your 1plus pages will generate more revenue simply because there is more of them.. And more of them indexed
But if you have some really nice obscure domains with remote extensions, the site cant perform miracles.. However, neither can namedrive.. I will guarantee you though that, over a period of a year, 1plus will recoup the reg fee of any domain you park on the site. And no other parking program can make that promise..
With regard the pictures on the site, your landing page displays a random set of "neutral" images whereas the link column on the left will display relevant pictures.. We could script a grabber to lift images based on your keyword to display each page load but this would slow the site down lots.. So, in the interim until we allow custom image loading, youre stuck with the neutral rotation of what we have currently..
For the most part, all my parked pages had been showing targetted ads up to this point so I was a bit surprised to see some that were no longer doing so.
Example - I have some golf domains where the main key word is "Golf" and the secondary KW is "Golfing" yet the ads displaying were for Godaddy, webhosting, outsourcing, and/or finding "1plus" items on Ebay but nothing about golf. Now they seem to have normalized and are once again showing targeted ads.
FYI - I also just discovered while writing this that there seems to be a maximum number of characters that 1plus will display for a site's "topic" (i.e. Lastest "KW Here" News) when using the "Evening" format.
One of my domains deals with New York City Real Estate and if I use that phrase as my KW the title bar displays it correctly but the "main heading" reads, "Latest New York City Real News" , so I lose the "Estate" . If I try to use just "New York Real Estate", it displays "Latest New York Real E News".
Everything displays correctly when using the "Morning" layout.
As to the pictures, I was just commenting about how the various pictures sometimes "combine" with the news headlines to create an interesting juxtaposition/"perspective" on some topics - I actually kind of like it.
I am wondering about running overture on some of my domains but it seems adsense is taking over the right column. Is there something i'm doing wrong cause I inserted the overture codes in customizing portion of the site but google prevails on the right all the time.
I see that traffic stats have updated as of May 1. I can't seem to figure out where/how to retrieve the traffic stats for April (and eventually all prior months). Please 'splain it. TIA!
It would be helpful if you added more explinations for everything. I didn't know what "Main KW" stood for until I realized it was "Main Keyword". Also what is the difference between the News Page and Park Page blocks?
Sure, I have said this a few times via PM that the backend tidying up is top of our priority list as this hasnt changed since we were testing the site.. Will be done..
Im a bit pressed for time today as Im in Dublin writing this, will take a look at the script youve inserted tomorrow and let you know... Have you hacked the feed from "searchfeed" or is this cut and pasted as they have written. I can say one thing for sure, its not an actual problem with the 1plus site, but i'll help you fix nonetheless...
The only change I made is to change "100%" to "50%" to keep the box from taking up the whole top of the page and changing the font from "1" to "2". These changes usually work just fine elsewhere.
I may park this elsewhere for a while - but you can see the non-functioning ad banner at the top of http://1plus.net/avianflu.bz/ even if I move avianflu.bz (there's no "i" in ".bz") to a different service for a time. I'd love to keep it with 1plus.net, though. The searchfeed non-functionality is not a deal-breaker. It would just be nice if it worked.
I guess I have been under a turnip plant all this time - because I just now found this thread. Going to register tonight and then upload most of my portfolio over the next few days! This is going to solve my problem. I have been searching for hosting plans. I have been looking for templates. I have been reading website design tutorials and brushing up on html. Forget all that. This looks like a far better and easier solution. I'm going to be a happy camper and so are all my domain names!
Thanks 1Plus!!!
Are the "More top story" pages on my site suppose to have my adsense code? The ads are more targeted to my domain on these pages, but have a different adsense code.
Just signed up here. Looks very interesting. I uploaded my domain and automatic content shows. That's great!!! Now I just have to apply for Adsense and add the code in somewhere, right? The adsense that is already showing(must be admins) does not seem to be using the correct keyword.
BTW....very unique idea.
