I never click any keyword on any of my domain parking pages either. Without revealing the domain name, lest I give even remotely the appearance of improperly enticing traffic, let me explain what I believe matters.
For example, even if DownLoad.Com were a parking page, rather than a developed site, and contains many well-classified and well-chosen keywords relating to various downloads that typically interest a visitor, then it would have a far higher CTR than 30%.
A visitor to DownLoad.Com is already, and often urgently, looking to download something and will probably not only be looking for answers (and clicking in the process) but also be taking action (i.e. downloading and therefore clicking again).
Of course, DownLoad.Com is a developed site, and presumably getting even better CTR than parking alone.
That's why I said it really depends on the domain name and the keywords. Of course, the domain name also largely determines the keywords that are proper or should be used.
Great work. I've tried your service using the first one of many domains I plan on parking with your company.
For those who do not use or have AdSense account, some Google Ads will still show up to compete for clicks. I presume the Google Ads are under 1Plus.Net's in-house AdSense account? Are such Google Ads mandatory or can they be turned off? In such situation, does the domain owner get any share of the revenues from clicks on said Google Ads on his parking page?
Alternatively, I would like to have some space reserved to promote (via simple links) other domains in my portfolio in lieu of whatever ad space not used.
Also for those who publish short ezines, a feature to write a brief abstract, including a link, would be very helpful.
The honest answer is, you need a google adsense accout to benefit (for now). Any user who does not insert their google merchant number will mean the house code will prevail. If you have an adsense number, this will show and you will receive all benefit from.
If you do not have an adsense account, you can use your own custom banners for the two main ad areas....
But watch this space, we have 2 or 3 different news skins under development (available later this week) which compensate for all those without adsense.. They are really like a bonafide and comprehensive newspaper-esque site and i think you guys will be impressed (i hope).. As normal, fully automated and based upon the keywords you insert against your domains...
As ever, post away any comments or suggestions here - as a free service, we can only develop with your guys support, influence, experience and suggestions...
That's truly great, Badger, can't wait to see them.
That would be the equivalent of being able to publish ezine mini-sites.
While your guys are in this innovative development cycle, may I also suggest that they create an optional mailing list subscription feature. In fact I don't mind paying a small fee for using that feature.
The mailing list can be double-opt-in. The value of a mailing list can be enormous, especially for content (e.g. ezine) publishers and the convenience of their readers.
One question (many more surely to follow): for the horizontal news banner, it says, "please ensure your banner is 468x80". That's not an option in my Adsense account, though there is a 468x60. Can I use the 468x60 code and just change the "google_ad_height" value from 60 to 80? Or is there another way to get the proper size? Thanks.
EDIT: Question #2!
I get this error message when I try to view the first domain I set up:
*****
Not Found
The requested URL /ImmigrationBills.com was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.1plus.net Port 80

Is that just because my DNS change hasn't propagated yet, or am I missing something basic?
It's a nice looking service, but it should be pointed out that:
“The Google AdSense terms and conditions state that search queries must originate from individual human end users inputting data directly into a WebSearch box”
Yes youre right B33R, we did some minor changes and used a pre-adsense column fix version. This will be returned to normal by the end of the day.. Sorry for that guys..
Yes, and thanks for that too Prima, but as the guys here already know, we are configuring the overture links column to open further sub pages instead of a search page. This will all be installed (along with the extra skins and features) by the weekend end (if that makes sense)...
You may also see some quite unique changes to the site over the following week
**EDIT And Randomo, you are suffering a common error, you have simply missed the "/" from the end of your URL. **
Also - All PM's now replied to..
Also also, I notice in admin, a lot of you guys are inserting reems of keywords for your domains, this is not necessary as the site will overture you "main KW" and pay only slight attention to your other keywords. So for optimum performance, choose your main keyword or keywords wisely (1, 2 or 3 (max)) and the site will perform best. No need for 30 or 40 manually inputted keywords.. Check out www.barsushi.com for one users choice of keywords and optimum use of the site...
Does anyone have a site up yet that has been customized? I would like to take a look at it. Also, any experiences comparing this type of site's CTR with a standard NameDrive or Sedo site? I am wondering if the ads are being lost because there is so much info on the page.
It will be very interesting to see how this works out. I reckon you will make even more revenue this way. Some google searches have no ads but you will undoubtedly get ads by placing adsense boxes on these sub pages.
For these record I'm not very keen on adsense oriented “mini sites”, but overall as a parking service it's a lot more creative than most of the stuff out their, ie Sedo. Well done.
Badger I noticed that when I turned the News section off (just for testing) then the bit that says "This domain may be for sale - $xx" disappeared. Is this intentional or a bug?
Other than that i'm really impressed so far...this is way cooler than any parking program i've seen before. I hope it works for me...
No doubt! Even if they were just plain parking pages, you'd still make more because Adsense pays you direct not through a middle man (the parking company).
With the extra content it means it doesn't look like a normal parked page so hopefully people will be more likely to click.
It's still got glitches and areas that can be improved on but I know they won't remain for long. Badger's been so helpful and prompt in sorting out any problems.
I just spent the last hour setting up my DNS, url forwarding and configuring my pages. Now all my domains are "parked" at 1plus.net!
I can't wait until later in the week when...
Sounds great!
EDIT: Take a look at my site - whytoronto.com I just finished setting it up. It's great! That's exactly what it should look like IMHO. Excellent
Is URL forwarding the only way to direct domains? Some registrars don't support this without a yearly per domain fee. ie. Network Solutions want 12 bucks a domain.
I just signed up -- look forward to some great results!
Does anyone know how to set up the 'url forwarding' if the domain is registered at Fabulous.com? I can't seem to find it there. I hope this is possible as most of my domains are registered with Fab...
