Correct. Not free, but come on here. Billions per YEAR?

It's repulsive knowing that a company or entity is making billions of dollars re-selling domain names to people. What or who gives them the right? We're just the people right? we're lining their pockets right? OVER and OVER again.

The the bigger picture is these HUGE firms want more. They are holding all the good names and reselling them. Do you think there is no inside jobs taking place? think again. Not only are they SELLING names, they are RESELLING them over and over again, we just keep buying. You do realize we have no choice in the matter, other than to puchase the domain or move on. Yes, I know that.

It's a scam, I don't care who's involved or what they do to manage the names, their work will never be worth the amount of money they keep making. I know of a few programmers and designers that work around the CLOCK to satisify their customers. They don't reap billions per year do they? they work harder don't they? The answer is YES, they do.

Anyways, no disrepect to you or any other viewers. If I had a chance to give my thoughts, a domain name should be worth $xxx to register, and then no RENEWAL fees should apply. In all reality, sex.com is not owned, market.com is not owned, they are intangible, and this type of business should be restructured.

BUT WAIT, there's more. Companies need to protect their trade name right? so if you had a chance to buy ebay.fm, pay the REGISTRAR $100 to get the name, to later find a C&D or some "xxx is taking you to court", don't you think that could be avoided if registrars adhere to the "existing domain names" of businesses that have purchased already? shouldn't a "sorry, ebay appear to be an existing trading name" help solve ebay's financial team from taking people to court and help combat the on going fraud of phishing and other scams? OF COURSE it would. Do you think the registry or registrar wants that to happen? OF COURSE THEY DON'T.

But wait, what happens when you FORGET to register your name?
ahh, more scams take place:

- No email from the registry about expiration (we've seen this a little better now at major firms like godaddy). In fact, godaddy has my active CC and they continue to send me emails based on UNSUCCESSFUL renewals. THAT IS ANOTHER scam. My CC is fine, has lots of cake in there, some renew some days, others don't. Has anyone else been seeing this "marketing tactic" yet? Another scam.
- What the hell is "Redemption period". That is a JOKE! So your saying that when you forget to renew your domain, instead of paying the $8 reg fee (as the owner is STILL YOU) they want $60 to $600 to GET IT BACK? lol.

If you notice, NEW companies are starting to form based on protecting your "BRAND" which basically means, our company is here to help you ensure your domain names DO NOT EXPIRE. LOL. What happen to the registry or registar making the billions per year selling you a name in cyberspace?

Does it cost them too much money to send BILLIONS of emails about expirations? In fact, yes it does, that's why there is godaddy and others.

The only GOOD thing about this industry is getting a domain name that is not already registered. Sad but true.

PS - these are my personal views. It's the way I've looked at the situation for a long time. I'm expecting people on here will share different views, but the fact remains, they should not be making as much money as they do without any HELP based on your domain name purchase.. It's buyer beware, but it really SHOULDN'T BE.

GoDaddy is NOT a registry. In any case registry is NOT responsible to send you ANYTHING - as they have binding business relations with registrars, not individual registrants.

You can LOL as much as you can. Redemption period is VERY good for registrants. Just imagine what would happen if all domains will be dropped at the expiration date...
