There were 1414 LLLL.com domains on the Pool drop list for today alone. Is there an option in that competition for "never" ?

Check those in a week or so. Most likely all the halfway decent ones will be registered.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big believer in quality LLLL.com domains, own a couple of hundred myself.

The question I was addressing was the date on which they're all registered, and my answer remains "never"

There was an option for after 2007. This would include never and has already been taken. I can't afford to monitor the domains forever and so after 2007 was the last option.

Once all the possible guesses have been made, I'll transfer the list of guesses to this thread but will leave the competition thread seperate until then.

As of January 2007...
Via casual observation, I tend to notice around 10 dropped premium LLLL.coms per day. These are quickly regged. Average total daily dropped around 1250. Do these observations jibe with the real numbers? I haven't been doing any tracking scans.

Only around 100 drop every day, no clue where you got your numbers. See here

Didn't see any numbers in your private myspace profile. You're probably right though. If 1250 dropped everyday, that'd be 0.2% of the total LLLL.com population per day. An order of magnitude lower might make more sense. Any other thoughts... how many premium LLLL.coms are you noticing drop daily?

The real question is how many premium are dropping so that they can be picked up at reg-fee. And that is almost zero.

How is the 4 letter dot com drop compared to other types? For a typical month, dot com drop ratio is about 1.3%; while for the last quarter, 4 letter dot com has a drop ratio of 0.8%, which is well below the normal ratio.

And majority of the dropped 4 letter dot com are picked up. The table below shows that 80% to 90% of the dropped 4 letter domains will be picked up.

Premium IMO are domains such as Sedo, Hybu(Fonzie's), Buzz, Digg, etc.

Good question. A precise definition may let us say whether the complete premium supply has been extinguished. I consider all dictionary words and CVCV to be premiums. Also, naturally pronounceable without Q, X, Z, (Y?)*.

All LLLL.coms that do not include J,K,Q,U,V,W,X,Y,Z have been bought up for two years. I would include them as premium, along with dictionary and true pronouncable (which also have been gone at least that long).

Hi All

Now is the time to grab.. any LLLL with out the crappy letters in them for reg fee if you can get them, I am paying $20+ for any LLLL with out the crappy letters in them on TDnam.com,

I am working on the idea of getting them for $20 and holding them for 1 year and then off loading them for double or triple what I paid for them.

I think a lot of people will be doing this...

But the really goal should be to hold them for the next 5 years.... i guess you would get 100x back your investment.

Do you have any comments...

Thanks
Tom Dahne

well 5 years registration @ $8 per year = $40, so with the 100x investment implied would give us $4k per domain....or 100 * original investment would give us $800 per domain. Just assuming we could hedge this financial prediction I think I would hedge against for sure....

actually 20+4*8=52, 100x is $5.2K
can you really sell that much?

My guess would be that poor character LLLL.coms would be worth around $40 in the 12 months following complete registration. I think the premium values will not change much. I'm hoping the somewhat okay letter domains (only one less desirable letter or naturally pronounceable) go up to $75ish.

Hmm, I wouldn't put Hybu in the same sentence as Buzz or Digg when it comes to LLLL.com quality. Regardless of development. You can spin tens of thousands of LLLL.com's into pronouncables ... Buzz is an actually word!

Different people have different opinion of what is premium. If $1m+ domain is premium, only buzz.com qualifies. sedo.com when sold as domain only commanded $35K(?).

But if somebody thinks $50+ is premium, then hybu.com might qualify.

I think $10+ is premiium, so all my domains are premium.
