YES SAM, THEE TV man, owner of Music.tv Travel.tv Mail.tv and SEXY.tv to name a few. welcome aboard Elequa sorry if I pestered you to post but I thought this is thee best place to discuss .tv so the best .tv domainer should be here, IMO of course. John did you see CHILE.tv recently regged another country scooped up.
Equity, no I did not see Chile.tv regged, but the buyer made a good decision IMO. I like country (and city / area) .tv names as they could easily fit the extension and with more (web) TV channels in the future, it could be well worth it. I have a few of them and also liked Denmark.tv mentioned by you, but found it a bit expensive for a relatively small country as I got Brazil.tv for the same price (after discount to be honest). And if Elequa is right (thanks for the input Elequa ) and .tv will be next or 3th after .com, (country) .tv names will get good traffic
Interesting, I was on a short break and met someone from New York, we were talking also about internet and I mentioned .tv and asked him to check out some .tv website. He had not heard of that extension and even kept asking if he needed to download some software before typing in a .tv name! He worked at a bank, lives in New York, but had never heard of .tv. Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go, especially in the USA. Elequa, you mention you are not interested in .us as Americans will only type-in .com, but do you think they will type-in .tv in the (near) future? Or will .tv have a break through everywhere worldwide except the US? Equity, what is your opinion about this?
Thanks, John.
My personal opinion is that .tv will only have it's major break through when technology brings together computer/laptop/mobile to TV and vice versa. This can happen by:
1. Interactive TV's being sold to major public (people check e-mail and surf internet on TV).
2. Devices being popular that will automatically make the connection from computer to TV, for example: www.pczapper.tv, you can go on the internet on your TV with a remote control.
3. Mobile internet, I don't think .mobi will do it, .tv is shorter (on a small mobile phone this is a plus) so watching TV/internet on your mobile will also trigger .tv
This could happen within 5 to 10 years from now, but that's just a wild guess, it could be sooner
I'm willing to bet that Spike the cable channel would have bought and developed the domain name Spike.TV if it was available when they were looking for a name. When I compare the two names:
Spike.TV
SpikeTV.com
Spike.TV is just so much more powerful, memorable, brandable, efficient and valuable.
Yup, and I'm sure that they receive a lot of offers for Spike.TV. It's a fantastically brandable name, IMO, and I hope that the owners do great things with it. It's a nascent blog now; I would add a free volleyball forum to it if I owned it.
Hey elequa, a pleasure to make your acquaintance at long last!
My view is that US will always sit back and let the rest of the word be a testing ground in this type of thing (not necessarily a bad thing imo). Once it has been seen to be a complete success they (in general) will buy into it - although this privilege will cost .
