Very good advice Ian! .TV is certainly (IMO) a end-user market and most of the decent sales will be made to the end user and not traders / domainers (at the moment). I agree that if people want to come into the .tv market they must come in with a long term, investment (or development) attitude and as always be prepared to lose a few bucks. I think $200 per year for FFF.tv is a bargain and I know, unless I cock-up I should be able to atleast make my money back back if necessery (desperate), however if I was looking for the quick, decent buck I would look at putting $200 towards a decent .com drop and reselling rather than investing in .TV.
.TV is certainly not for the faint hearted, but with big (calculated) risks come big returns (hopefully ) or big loses if we make a mistake - a cracking name in a .com is a dead cert but in a .TV (at the moment) isn't.
I, along with a few others think the future is very bright for .TV, but people should realise that it is expensive (comparatively) to get into and is by no means a guaranteed winner. With .TV IMO the profits are potentially great but at the same time the risk of loss is higher (at the moment).
I think though, it is this market realisation that Equity is trying to achieve with this thread. .TV IMO is something completely different to anything else on the market.
Lol Yesonline Corner.tv was on my favourite list, on the way to reg it a few days ago... aaaargh again too late ! Very nice name, best of luck with it !
Hey guys. 2 .tv's I let expire are still listed on www.GreatDomains.com . They are Calendars.tv and Telephones.tv . Both are non premium, and can be regged anywhere.
Ian good points about the LLL.tv. WHY do you say FARCE about the thread? I thinK the thread is going well it is thee most fact worthy and informational source on all things .tv anywhere on the net and it is only two weeks old.
First off you have to be more spot on on .tv then other exts, If you think you have to have a name that goes with the .info ext then you really have to with the .tv. Ratio for non premium names is 4 to 1 Reg fee .com $7 Reg Fee .tv $30 SO when you buy a .tv it comparable to regging 4.coms. SO if you mess up with a .tv name it would be like 4 bad .com regs. For Newbies looking at .tv and getting interested UNDERSTAND THIS be careful you will not sell a .tv to another DOMAINER in 99.9% of the time. FIRST off the % of DOMAINERS that like and or Understand .tv is far less than that of .com. Do not buy a name just because you like the sound, think it through;
1) WHAT are the uses of this name in development ?
2) WHO are the realistic possibel end users ?
3) Do I know how to contact them ?
4) You will Not be able to put up for sale in Auction and get your full money back.
Premium names now with lll.tv going to $750 they getting ridiculous. Aunty's buy of FFF mades sense just to get that $200 bargain it was a name I knew about for a ong time But have an eye On another .tv that will cost me$500 so I could not make the purchase of FFF because I did not know what I would do with it and that is the important thing like Badger said, not all lll.tv will sell PVC is a great acronym for instance with meaning but would not go with .tv there are plenty more examples. But when the LLL does go with .tv you have a home run and it is worth the investment IMO. State .tvs for example, you can get a major state like Illinois.tv for $500 so the ratio is now 71 .coms to 1 .tv you have to be right on youhave to know you can develop and sell. A lot of premium namesare in the $500 category if they were a .com they would be worth $2500 to $10,000 so If they go with the .tv ext they may be worth Buying. There are a lot of what I think are premiums that don't have premium pricing they are the real gems.
Have been looking at this ext for a while now, and I have not been able to justify the purchses I was looking at. I've been running lists of names and have found quite a few that have pretty high OVT (one has 485,976 OVT), but I'm still not sure or ready to make the move.
As for this thread, I think it's one of the better in a while. Great information from well informed and respected members. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words Lance, I think everyone has done a great job with this thread.
JOHNTV I see you checking my computer, Friday I did a check going to Reg NYUTV.com I waited look today and someone from KENYA regged it yesterday. Weird how tv domianers think alike. GLAD you got it though, could not believe I was like what the? checked whois damn JOHN checking my computer out. hahaha GOOD reg JOHN.
Just a humble post from a relative newbie, but I realy think you're onto something VERY big with .tv
Btw, Great article at the top of the post!
I'm back "in the game" after about 9 months of not being involved with websites and domains registration, and i saw .tv and tried to register ip.tv & iptv.tv (but they were, predictably taken) - this will be BIG with internet & mobile phone streaming video content taking off!
Its just a crying shame its not a free market like the other TLDs

Reason: late-night typos (again!) lol
Interesting, I have just been reading another thread where NP memeber hookar posted a link to a registrar: http://domaininfo.com/ . I searched for a couple of domains from my .tv wish list that are anything from $500+ at www.tv. At domaininfo.com some are shown as not available (as expected) but some are show as available and the price is only $183.54. I haven't regged any yet as I am wondering what the catch is... Anybody any ideas?
If this is right I would appreciate somebody letting me know ASAP!!
It wasn't me , but it is good to know I have a 'TV' competitor here in Kenya I'm almost finished regging .tv as I have just over 100 now and if I add up all the reg fees it is driving me crazy
While I don't have any on sale (I like to develop them, probably not all), I get someone interested for one of the .tv names roughly every two/three weeks, so I am not too worried for now and for me it's a sign that .tv is really starting to take off.
You are very right about .tv domainers thinking alike as I was checking out fff.tv before and now regret taking it
Well LCD.tv is sold up on AFTERNIC for $4200 Thank you afternic Featured LISTINGS you got a lot of exposure for the name I highly recommend that you try to get a great name on their SHOWCASE listing.
NEW REGs, some recoomendations and some ideas,
DEUX.tv "two" in French
Tart.tv THought a BRIT would take this one, ONE of the discussions I have had with some is have a good ADULT but not dirty rather a little risque name like sexy.tv or flirt.tv even promiscuous.tv is regged and for non premium pricing I think this name a steal. If some British network starts an adult channel this would be a perfect name IMO
acht.tv "eight" in German
sechs.tv "six" in German
sechstv.com
achttv.com
deuxtv.com
tarttv.com
psutv.com
eighttv.com could not believe it was avail every other letter taken com net and sometimes org
Looking at one Premium name doing some more research so I figured I take $200from the sale reinvest IF I do the PREMIUM name $700.
I like numbers spelled out every country has plenty of stations named this way I think if you are just getting started or looking for some good names at not premium pricing then foreign numbers are a good speculative buy. TWO.tv worth a lot to A frenchman DEUX has same meaning differnece in REG Fee $30 vs $5,000 plus two is regged anyway. I think French, German and Spanish numbers are a nice way to play .tv
For the Brits knickers.tv avail for regular fee and Bum.tv another good one for $750
And again always try to make a set meaning the word tv .com like tarttv.com. Some networks use the name tv .com others .tv SPIKETV.com TNT.tv SPICETV.com CN8.tv. Spice and Spike .tv are registered. If you have the set then someone will definitely want to deal with you like AUNTY's great buy FFF.tv and FFFTV.com they got to deal with you if they want tv relevance. IMO
Every nickname for the NFL and MLB owned by the leagues in .tv not so with hockey. A lot are owned by the guy who runs FARM.tv and points them to farm.tv surprisingly. Well a couple great teams are avail I live in PHILA but I am not a Flyers fan IMO would be wrong to keep away from a fan or a business FLYERS.tv for reg fee THe New Jersey Devils too Devils.tv SO If you like Hockey, this could be good names for you.
ANOTHER interesting FIND Brittney.tv, Miss Spears spells with one T but still a lot think 2, plus other actresses use 2. Most female names $500 this Regular price.
SO recent sales:
LCD.tv $4200
Caketv.com $5,000
SOLOTV.com $350
Hoped this helped some, others sorry If I bored you. go TV domainers
Just guessing, but I think once you actually tried to register it, it would reject. I thuink any name that is a premium name listed on www.tv, is going to cost you the price listed there. Try it and see!!
