Here are some thoughts ALEX we are working on EVerything.tv to be kind of like the dnjournal of TV related names, I will look to push AROUND.tv as the forum if I know you are going to be committed to the forum and I think you should take a couple people from here to be moderators like AMCY I know Ian busy running a company and Elequa busy AMCY has shown a lot of experience with forums and BLOGS so If he would like I would recommend him he is an asset to any forum IMO.
Me? A moderator? Ha! My parents sent me to boarding school in the English farm country before I was even a teenager because I'm so much trouble. You don't want me as a moderator. I am very prone to speaking my mind and I like to do things my own way.
Have a "grand opening" of sorts. Pick a date in the future for all of us to meet up at "Around.tv".... Weekends are usually good. Pick a time that most of us can be there. Then set the date out a couple of weeks... Let the buzz build up while you get the "house" ready.
Everyone who is interested in .TV will most definitely show up. Everything.TV via RSS can then ensure more people find out about the "party"
I think a .TV forum is just what we need.
btw: A .TV "drop" section would be a nice addition to the forum as well as a "developed dot TV" area
Nice going Alex... But be careful my friend, you might wanna keep an eye on capacity / security. From bitter experience, ive done similar myself not expecting anything big to happen but then when it did my site security got compromised, bandwidth got zapped, server overload... Anyway, im sure you catch my drift... Model yourself on RJ
Thanks for all the comments and suggestions everyone. They are very much appreciated.
Elequa - Any posts, articles, anything you can think of that would be of interest regarding .tv domains would be great.
Equity78 - I would love to do something with you and everything.tv - Just let me know what I can do.
As for moderators, etc, if anyone wants to help out that way, just let me know. I would really like this forum to be something useful for people, and the more people who want to help - the better I think it will be.
Izo_pod - The "Grand Opening" sounded like a great idea. Any ideas of how to start something off regarding that ??
The drop-section was a great idea - will set about adding that to the forum right now.
Badger - Thanks for the words about security and bandwidth, etc. I will be keeping my eye on all of these things. Will try and keep the forum updated with the new releases, etc and will keep my eye on the bandwidth as well. I have a ton of server space with a few hosting accounts so I should be able ( I hope !! ) to have the bandwidth part under some control.
Again, thanks to everyone for their kind words and comments so far, and if you have any other ideas or suggestions, please fire away.
Alex

very nice thread. happy to see that the island gets good money out of it. I support them in asking for more than 50% since it goes to the general public

is for Sale! Why not make an Offer?
Thanks for the info Wasitdas, Rabais is not very popular French word, never seen it in shopwindows, we are more used to say 'promo(s)' 'soldes', 'prix cassés' or even 'discount(s)'.
Just got Divertissement.tv which means 'Entertainment'.
Still looking to reg a new premium (500 not more) to add to my portfolio, any idea ?
sorry but never seen them in my frog dictionary !
By the way Frog.tv is available for reg..... 5k...
Hello Badger, thank you for this nice suggestion, DejaVu.tv could greatly compete with the .com but...my.. wife does not look the same!
I keep it in my list, thanks !
That is a very good buy Argos great french keyword.
Some Interesting possibilties out there that go with the ext concert.tv they want $5,000 but on an offer I wonder how low they go, Konzert.tv German Spelling they want $3,000. Continue to think that TableTennis.tv for $500 is a decent buy, same for Billards.tv and Joke.tv each $500 reg fee Bar.tv and club.tv taken Saloon avail for regular price. The last german one thru ten avail neun (NINE)
Is there a running tally of how much money has been spent on premium registrations? I know that especially with their "make an offer" option available, I can't just check their entire catalog and trust those #'s...
The purpose of this question: There have been some blanket statements regarding .tv having/not having higher sales than .info's , .biz's, etc. While the "aftermarket" sales might not be there, the fact that the yearly registrations (Lease) for some premiums far outweigh the SELLING price of other extensions, makes it hard for me to compare apples to apples.
Well what has been reported ALLAN .tv wise is larger than the largest reported .info/.biz/.us sale
Travel.tv alone is larger than any reported .biz/.info and .us I know business.us justwent for xx,xxx but I don't know how high and CHINA.tv went for $100,000 and the reg fees some paid for some others have been that high or higher.
Like an idiot I kept dallying about a premium though not that high MANGA.tv for $500 wasgoing to negotiate a deal and someone regged this morning. I wanted it because it goes with .tv and there were 27 bids for it on SEDO, problem with SEDO is I don't know how high they were the name dropped in OCTOBER. SHOULD HAVE paid the $500
Concerning the high yearly premium reg fees, I like to add that most .tv buyers are end users and are not really minding high reg fees IMHO. For example, last 6 months I had 5 serious parties interested in one of my .tv names. I didn't want to sell, but there was some communication and all 5 (different) potential buyers never mentioned or asked for the reg fee and the names were obviously premium names. That makes me come to the conclusion that they don't really mind to pay 50, 500 or even 1,000 per year as long as they have the name. For them it is probably just a small bill compared to the investment they plan to do with the .tv website.
No offense, but I have to disagree. I think that the typical end user doesn't realize that certain .TV names have a marked-up annual registration fee. I also think that domain traders who sell premium .TV names should inform buyers of any higher-than-standard annual fees associated with any .TV names before selling.
You don't want a buyer who paid you $15,000 for a name to email you a year later asking, "Why didn't you tell me that the annual fee is $10,000 for this name!?"
AmCy
equity: please add DepressionHurts.tv to my showcase. Thanks!
AmCy, I was just assuming they should know about any premium prices, maybe also because before contacting me they might have looked at other names available and if they did they probably have seen some premium prices. You are right about informing the potential buyer about the reg fee, which I did not do (as I did not want to sell anyway), but definitely needs to be done as they should know this and also, like you mention, to avoid any problems afterwards.
Gigs.tv, nice one Betterdayz.
Just noticed japannews.tv for normal reg fee, I already have indianews.tv. Don't know if it can be interesting for someone to reg as both news.tv and japan.tv are really expensive ones, John.
Can I confirm a question about the renewals of .tv domains.
If you purchase a premium name, say for $500 and renew it the next year for another $500. Then after two years, if you decide not to renew the name, will it then be resold as a "premium name" or will it be for the standard non-premium price ??
Thanks
Alex
