I think it is fair to assume that, in general, Vista searches will follow the same pattern, and that the same keywords that are used to search XP will apply to Vista. This is not to say that other Vista names do not have potential value when developed or that some won't garner some high figure sales, based upon their unique qualities and the buyer's mararketing and branding needs. For the reseller, that places most Vista names into the "needs branding" category, which is not a sure-shot, done deal.
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/the-break-room/109352-tired-of-vista-domains.html

The first two Vista names I picked up were "impulse regs": VistaGuard and VistaCop, which seemed to me like great names for security apps/services.
Maybe so, but, later, when I checked for their XP equivalants, I found that "XP Guard" had 247 Google links, XP Cop had 100 Google links and that neither name resolved. I regged a couple of more Vista names, but needless to say, I did a little more homework first.

PS By the time I joined the party, the highest I could get up the Vista keyword food chain was VistaBootDisk, and only God and Bill Gates know when people will begin to type that one in, and it is doubtful if even the two of them can be certain, about what date that might be.

You're a tester? You must do a pretty bad job... considering it took numerous competition from other companies (e.g. Mozilla w/ Firefox, vs. IE ... that's a PRIME example) to get M$'s rear in gear and finally start patching their products!
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=109352

I just talked to a former-employee tonight and we had a great discussion...

M$ needs to take more responsibility for their products! If they're going to release them either:

A) Keep releasing patches and updates to keep it current and secure
or
B) Let the users edit and fix problems!

But NOOOOOOOOOOO.... M$ wants to keep their empire monopolistic, so they think that OWNING 90% of the market share for most things gives them an immediate excuse to ignore their products and proper updates.

Bill Gates started off his computer career as a computer hacker - and actually hacking his friend's comp (who is now the CEO of Apple!) ... no wonder he somehow finds out about other people's ideas before they're released!

I really think that M$ is completely junk - the only reason 90% of the people use their products (Btw, I use Linux now... fixed my user-generated display problems - I set the res too high for the monitor to handle when Linux even TOLD me (thank you Linux!) that it couldn't handle it.) is because they came up with 1 stolen idea (called a graphical OS, originally from Apple...) and allowed outsourcing before Apple could.

I DO give M$ credit for 3 things though: SAPI, TAPI, and even Visual Basic (is a stretch though).

But yes, I am tired of Vista domains, and EVERYTHING WINDOWS! DIE, WINDOWS, DIE!

If it wasn't for walls and fences we wouldn't need Windows and Gates.

Flipping that around and looking at it from the computer's POV: If it weren't for Windows and Gates, than PC's wouldn't need walls and fences.

Well iam Managing Director for a Hardware and software networking, hosting company and yes i am also MCSE, CLE if we are putting letters down. Microsoft have already metioned they will not be going for the Vista TM so that is instantly good news for vista name owners. Why? becuase vista has so many meanings. I new as soon as they changed from longhorn to vista that it was potential money in the bag..
????: NamePros.com http://www.namepros.com/showthread.php?t=109352

Sure i have registered a few vistas but as with any other domain name it is a gamble and as long as it doesnt have the TM names like windows or microsoft in the name with vista then you are fine. Domains are like anything else an investment. IF you decide not to buy into them then thats your call and i respect that but knocking people who do i do not think is very fair.

I will have alot of respect for someone who takes a vista name and devlops it by getting traffic and popularity via parking or temporary page getting PR ready for next years windows vista release. For the sake of a reg fee they will reap the benefit.
