In my first foray into affiliating directly w/ another website, I used a name that gets about 600-700 uniques/mo w/ about a 15% click rate, (I know, small potatoes for many of you), avereges about .15/ click or about $12-$15/mo. Figuring I could do better than this w/ my own page w/ an affiliate link , I took my 100+/- clicks/mo and signed up w/ the strongest site for this domain's particular niche- a 50/50 split based on signups and, (I believe), 25% for renewals, w/ monitoring and payouts going through CCBill. After about 2 mos, the visits dropped off to about 400 and the revenue for sign-ups= $0. I put it back on Sedo.

Any tips to this affiliate newbe for better optimization/monetization than direct affiliation or other PPC listing sites? ie Does adding content to your own site really help? (I've heard that getting visitors in and out was the way to go. w/ the site that's the example, I put together a single page and customized a fairly good, I thought), "tease" ). Is more merrier? (ie I went w/ the biggest and strongest possibility thinking that I wanted to send people off to the best- I guess, based on my results, spreading it around more is a better way to go.
